It seems a huge oversight to not say anything about the composer playing and recording his own symphony. But the blame for this cannot be assigned to the anon whose edit was tagged. James470 (talk) 02:45, 26 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Publication[edit]

Admittedly, it's not usual to mention publication history in work articles on Wikipedia (as it is to some extent anyway on IMSLP for obvious reasons there) but I thought maybe I should mention that I know of two full score publications of the work- the 1952 Brucknerverlag and the more recent (©2005) (I assume critical edition, from a collected/complete edition- see header just below, from Stanford U library catalog- of the composer's music?...) Ries & Erler publication, edited by Georg Alexander Albrecht, ("Furtwängler, Wilhelm, 1886-1954. Works. 2002. Werkgruppe 1, Werke für Orchester ; Bd. 2."). (Bd. 1, published in 2002, was naturally the first symphony ; no.3, published in 2003 (!), the C minor symphony (I'm guessing with a completion of - as recorded on Marco Polo Recordings- and the sketches of, the unfinished 4th movement); volume 4, published in 2004, was the Sinfonisches Konzert. Some early orchestral works were published together as a Bd. 5 in 2006.) Schissel | Sound the Note! 00:31, 14 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Several years ago I saw a CD of this recording by Kenneth Schermerhorn and the Hong Kong Symphony Orchestra, but in Googling it or looking at Schermerhorn's discography there are no results. That CD copy was rare, indeed! Nobs01 (talk) 04:52, 27 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
