Kent Mesplay

According to this interview, Kent Mesplay was preparing for a 2012 run back in June 2008 after Cynthia McKinney had wrapped up the Green Party nomination. Should he be included on this list? --William S. Saturn (talk) 18:17, 7 August 2009 (UTC)

Photo of Dobbs?

Does anyone have a photo of Lou Dobbs that can be used on the page? I can't seem to find one, and his entry looks a bit tacky without a pic.--JayJasper (talk) 17:31, 24 November 2009 (UTC) Here is one that is labeled for commercial reuse with modification. --William Saturn (talk) 23:28, 6 April 2010 (UTC)

Wikinews

Currently, two of the people listed on this page are referenced only by Wikinews interviews; however, I'm not convinced that Wikinews, being a wiki, meets WP:SPS or WP:BLP#Reliable sources. Does anybody have any thoughts on the matter? Thanks. – Hysteria18 (Talk • Contributions) 20:07, 29 December 2009 (UTC)

I'm not convinced of the validity of Wikinews as a source, either. It might even be argued that using it as a reference violates WP:COI because it is a branch of the same organization, Wikimedia Foundation, from which Wikipedia stems.--JayJasper (talk) 20:47, 30 December 2009 (UTC)

John Best

who is John Best and does he merit an entry on this page? http://johnbestjr.blogspot.com/ David Surtees (talk) 10:31, 10 May 2010 (UTC)

A more reliable source than the candidate's personal blog would be needed for an entry on the page.--JayJasper (talk) 16:22, 10 May 2010 (UTC)

Does this page really need to exist?

It seems kind of silly and inefficient to have a whole article devoted to possible Independent candidates in the 2012 election. At the very least, can't it be merged with the main 2012 article, or expanded to include possible Republican candidates? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 174.115.129.3 (talk) 18:32, 24 May 2010 (UTC) There is already a page that extensively lists possible Republican candidates.--JayJasper (talk) 18:37, 24 May 2010 (UTC)

Should Ron Paul be included as a potential Libertarian or third party candidate?

There's been some speculation swirling around the past few days that Paul might run in 2012 as a libertarian or inedependent or a third-party candidiate of some sort if he dosen't get the Republican nomination. Check it out:

Should this be worked into this article? With all the specualation that's circulating, I figured it should be discussed at least.--NextUSprez (talk) 21:52, 31 October 2011 (UTC)

Yes. He should be included.--William S. Saturn (talk) 22:17, 31 October 2011 (UTC)

Should he be included as a potential Libertarian or as Independent? or both?--NextUSprez (talk) 22:27, 31 October 2011 (UTC)

After looking at the sources, I'd say both.--William S. Saturn (talk) 22:49, 31 October 2011 (UTC)
I agree. Given that there are multiple sources for both, he should be included as both.--Rollins83 (talk) 12:58, 2 November 2011 (UTC)

When I have time, I'll add Paul to the Lib. and Ind. columns. I'll also add Jesse Ventura to the potential Ind. column:

That is, unless someone else with a little more spare time than I presently have would like to do it.--NextUSprez (talk) 21:50, 11 November 2011 (UTC)

Task completed.--NextUSprez (talk) 22:27, 16 November 2011 (UTC)

Other Libertarian Party candidates

According to this site: http://2012.libertarian-party.org/ there are, in addition to R. Lee Wrights, the following four candidates for Libertarian Party nomination for president:

Bill Still. Carl Person. Roger Gary. RJ Harris.

I was at the Illinois State Libertarian Party Convention on 22 October 2011 when all five candidates (the four I've listed and Lee Wrights) were presented in an official party candidates forum and discussed their candidacies.

For anyone wishing to write profiles or link to web sites of the candidates, the above captioned site provides information and links. Best wishes. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 209.177.151.180 (talk) 20:47, 4 November 2011 (UTC)

The current consensus holds that only candidates that meet the notability guideline and have their own wikipedia article are to be included on the page. If any of the above has their own article created - and can withstand an AFD - they will be included.--Rollins83 (talk) 23:17, 4 November 2011 (UTC)

Terry Jones?

Terry Jones is listed on the main article for the 2012 election as an independent candidate, but not here. Is that just an oversight? Here are the sources : http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/politics/2011/10/burn-a-quran-pastor-terry-jones-sets-sights-on-white-house-but-hell-settle-for-herman-cain/, http://www.allheadlinenews.com/articles/90063563?Koran-burning%20pastor%20Terry%20Jones%20wants%20to%20be%20president --Dwc89 (talk) 21:00, 12 November 2011 (UTC)

He's listed here now.--NextUSprez (talk) 21:51, 17 November 2011 (UTC)

Why the "Prospective", "Previous", "Current", and "Declined to run" listings?

The topic of this article is "third party and independent presidential candidates". It's not about non-candidates. ---Dagme (talk) 04:30, 3 January 2012 (UTC)

Would this be included here?
