Speedy
[edit]I removed the speedy tag as he may well be notable and the author should be given a bit of time to develop the article. I am also removing the warning from this page as unneeded and ugly. --Alfadog (talk) 19:36, 28 December 2007 (UTC)
Source for Internationale claim
[edit]I've tried to find evidence to for the claim in the article that TE Nicholas translated The Internationale into Welsh, but I've not been able to find a primary source --Cymrocall (talk) 17:19, 12 February 2021 (UTC)
- T.E. Nicholas is generally credited as the author of the Welsh translation of the Internationale :
- see for example the Notes to the CD Gorau Côr Cochion Caerdydd, a compilation of radical songs performed by the Cardiff Red Choir. The Notes publish the Welsh text of the Internationale and credit T.E. Nicholas as the translator. Online at https://www.members.tripod.com/cor.cochion/latest_music.htm
- T.E. Nicholas is also credited as the translator of the Welsh version of the Internationale on the website Anti-war Songs - The Internationale - a compilation of some 140 different language versions of the Internationale. See : https://www.antiwarsongs.org/canzone.php?id=2003&lang=en#agg1970
- The index page (with a link to the version in Welsh) is at : https://www.antiwarsongs.org/canzone.php?id=2003&lang=en#agg1970
- Similarly the compilation of different language versions at https://world-of-poetry.livejournal.com/2205.html
- credits T.E. Nicholas as the translator.
- The wayback machine has this, again crediting T.E. Nicholas :
- I'll see if I can find a published text of the words or a reference in one of the biographical pieces. Gwedi elwch (talk) 05:58, 8 March 2023 (UTC)

Thomas Evan Nicholas → T. E. Nicholas – The most prevalent form of his name (WP:COMMONNAME), as suggested by this ngram. Ham II (talk) 19:49, 1 March 2023 (UTC)
- I welcome this proposal. In English he is almost always known as 'T.E. Nicholas'. In Welsh he is known as 'T.E. Nicholas' and (more informally and affectionately) as 'Niclas Glais'. The form 'Thomas Evan Nicholas' is rarely seen or heard. He published his books and articles under the name 'T.E. Nicholas'. He is referred to as 'T.E. Nicholas' by the National Library of Wales, by Bangor University (who hold an archive of his papers), by JISC Archive, by BBC Wales, and by his political party. T.E. Nicholas (or Niclas Glais) is the usual form of his name in the title of biographies and other works about him. Gwedi elwch (talk) 04:22, 8 March 2023 (UTC)
- Support. Looking at the article sources, and the nominator's ngram, supports the contention that T. E. Nicholas is the WP:COMMONNAME. ModernDayTrilobite (talk • contribs) 15:50, 8 March 2023 (UTC)
