Redirection to the list of "bannered" routes

This is a major route that is part of the National Highway System and Florida Intrastate Highway System, which US 27 in the area is not. It is also longer than most alternate routes. I feel that a decent article can be written here, much like U.S. Route 89A (which itself is not all it can be). --NE2 23:09, 24 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm inclined to agree. The NHS listing is telling, and a 94-mile highway should not be merged into a list better suited for tiny business loops. -- Kéiryn (talk) 23:11, 24 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

To be fair, 67 of those miles overlap US 19, itself a four-lane NHS/FIHS route. But Chiefland to Williston is still such a route, recently widened to handle traffic. --NE2 23:14, 24 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, that section has been widended for quite some time. In fact, in Chiefland, you can see where the former section of US Alt 27 used to be on the northeast corner of US 19-98 and Alt 27. ----DanTD (talk) 23:24, 24 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I do remember there being some construction northwest of Brosnon, three or four years ago, but I was never on the section between US 19-98 and Florida State Road 24. One time back then I drove into Williston as a favor for somebody, and I decided to drive up Alt. US 27 just to see what it was like. The four-laned section was certainly complete up to Bronson, and three years ago, I drove up US 19 to Chiefland and saw that former section on thr northeast corner.
