Name invented to wind up occupying forces?[edit]
I have heard it said that there were not traditionally family names in the Netherlands, and that they were insisted upon by some invading army. As an act of defiance, a large number of people from the flattest areas of the country named themselves Van Den Berg. Anyone got evidence of it, either to verify the story or to debunk the urban legend? Kevin McE (talk) 10:41, 6 February 2024 (UTC)
