I am afraid they do still use silly units such as barrels, scuffs and kips (kilopounds). And they would use firkin-fathoms per Fahrenheit-fortnight if they could. It comes from the dominance of old people in the US who still think in these units.

It is not that easy to change old habits. However, in Europe and elsewhere folk are now changing. The main sticking point will be the use of inches for pipeline diameters.

What upset me was finding them using all these daft units in Brazil's oil industry.
