Merge proposal[edit]

I don't believe it would be best to merge these articles. The "Waitomo Caves" article is clearly about the Waitomo area as a whole. This article could be added to, with a lot with more information about the geological and cultural history of the area, how the caves were formed etc, along with a comprehensive list of the individual caves within the area, linking to articles on each of the individual caves, and the organisations which operate within them. The "Waitomo Glow Worm Cave" article is about one individual cave, and should remain as such, continuing its link back to the article about the Waitomo area as a whole. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.71.13.195 (talk) 12:18, 9 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Support merge. There is a lot of doubling-up on content between the articles. Adabow (talk) 05:58, 12 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Do NOT Support merge!. I live in the district and often have to deal with visitors confusion between "Waitomo Caves" which is the official geographical place name for a village and the "Waitomo Glowworm Cave" which is a tourist attraction located a couple of hundred metres away. Oppose merge. As per CaverPaul above, I have visitor the Waitomo Glowworm Caves and it is a separate visitor attraction worthy of its own entry. Jonathan Bowen (talk) 09:18, 25 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Please phrase edit requests in the form "Please change X to Y" or "Please add Z to this section". I have added the protection template, if that is what you're talking about. Adabow (talk) 19:01, 20 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
