Echo Lake is now Lake Desire https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lake_Desire Roket (talk) 21:33, 19 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Before the Echo Lake Cutoff Route was chosen, Tacoma leaders campaigned for a 2.8 mile shorter route called the Cedar River Route. It was opposed strongly by the City of Seattle because of impacts to the Cedar River Watershed and Seattle's water supply. It seems significant that even in 1953 the City of Seattle was concerned about "various sources of contamination and fire hazards... [and] many millions for further water purification". https://cdm16118.contentdm.oclc.org/digital/collection/p16118coll7/id/3420/rec/2 Roket (talk) 21:33, 19 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
