Improving The Article

This website is good for finding out about bins but would be unbelievably more helpful if it contained the type of plastics that bins can be made from and how they are industrially made. --195.92.168.170 3 July 2005 22:46 (UTC)

Thanks for your appreciation of the article. It's taken a bit of work but a few members of the Wikipedia community, myself included, have been able to turn it into a useful resource. I would first like to ask you to please refrain from posting comments in the actual article, it confuses readers and diminishes the quality of said article: direct all comments to this talk page.

"Circular file"

There doesn't appear to be any reason why "Circular file" should be considered jocular, a Google search brings up many serious references, if it IS jocular please state why.

This is ridiculous. View Am. Heritage ed. 4 definition of "file:"

A container, such as a cabinet or folder, for keeping papers in order.

As well as 'Circular File' it might be worth adding another redirect for 'Round File' (as used by Moulder in the X-Files)

trash bag

Does anyone know if trash bag is defined in the wiki dictionary and if so, how to link to the dictionary definition? That is probably a better solution to defining the term then not having a wikipedia link.

Article name/localization of terms

Since the term trash can is somewhat exclusive to North America, wouldn't it be a bit better to have the article name as "waste bin" or something along the lines of that? --/ɛvɪs/ /tɑːk/ /kɑntɹɪbjuʃənz/ 16:32, May 28, 2005 (UTC)

It appears that there are significant word usage and cultural differences between trash/waste in North America and the British Isles. receptacle

The word receptacle is more accurate as the actual bin itself is only holding the trash on a temporary basis. The bin liner, or bag, would be a waste container as it is literally containing the waste. So this article should be renamed Waste Receptacle. JayKeaton (talk) 17:32, 27 December 2008 (UTC)
