Wenche (or any variation of it) is certainly not a popular name in Austria, and I doubt it is that popular in Germany either. The Wiki page only lists three examples, and all of the are from Norway. As proof I am including a link to Statistic Austria with the most popular baby names since 1984 and Wenche (or any variation of it) is not listed, which is why I removed the reference to Austria and replaced it with Norway. http://www.statistik.at/web_de/statistiken/bevoelkerung/geburten/haeufigste_vornamen/index.html
