Usage[edit]

The {{WikiProject Oregon}} project banner template should be added (not subst:ed) to the talk page of every article within the scope of the project. All parameters are optional and add extra features to the banner and categorize the article accordingly. The full syntax is as follows:

{{WikiProject Oregon
| class =
| importance =
| reqphoto =
| attention =
| government =
}}

Template display formatting parameters:

Article assessment parameters:

  • class – a rating of the article's quality; see Wikipedia:WikiProject Oregon/Assessment for more details. Valid values are from Wikipedia:Version 1.0 Editorial Team/Assessment:
    • FA - The article has reached Featured article status.
    • FL - The list has reached Featured list status.
    • A - Could be submitted as a Featured article candidate; probably could use some small updates to make it Featured quality.
    • GA - The article has reached Good article status.
    • B - Could be submitted as a Good article nominee; probably could use some updates or may lack some features from the Good article criteria, but it presents a good overview of the subject.
    • C - The article has good content and is not missing any key elements, but has overly brief or incomplete sections, or few references. It may have original research or neutrality and balance issues.
    • Start - The article is more than a stub, but may lack some important aspects of the topic's discussion.
    • Stub - The article is a stub; it likely contains one of the Oregon stub templates.
    • List - Specifies Wikipedia:Lists, as opposed to an article in paragraph format.
    • Dab/Disambig - For disambiguation pages limited to Oregon-related topics. Should be used sparingly.
    • Redir/Redirect - For redirected pages that may eventually need their own articles. Use only for redirects that could be stand-alone articles. (i.e. not alternative spellings, former names, etc.)

Adding the template to non-article Category, Template, Image or Portal pages will automatically place the page into the proper category. No further parameters are necessary.

  • reqphoto - requests a photo for Wikipedia:WikiProject Oregon. Valid values are (case insensitive):
    • Yes - Indicates the article is not geographically based (biographies, lists, general history, etc.) so anyone—anywhere—might be able to help.
    • Other values indicate that photography is requested in a particular general region of Oregon. Widely used abbreviations for some of these areas are accepted: pdx, portlandmetro, ne, se, s, etc. The general idea is that a photographer expecting to be in a named area with a half-hour to spare can conveniently drive/bicycle/etc. to the site, spend ten minutes photographing and return.
      • Portland - Portland Metropolitan area
      • Salem - greater Salem area
      • Eugene - greater Eugene area
      • Pendleton
      • Burns
      • John Day
      • Willamette Valley - valley locations outside the metropolitan areas, includes outer portions of the Tualatin Valley
      • Bend - general Bend area, including Sisters, Madras, Redmond, Prineville, Sunriver
      • Central - Central Oregon away from the Bend area
      • South central - Lakeview area east of the Cascades
      • Northwestern - All of the area on Oregon's "nub" not including the north coast, but including the lower Columbia down to Hwy 26
      • North Coast - Regions west of the Coast Range north of Lincoln City
      • Central Coast - Lincoln City to Reedsport
      • South Coast - south of Reedsport
      • Southern - Southern Oregon including Ashland, Medford, Klamath Falls
      • North Cascades - Santiam Pass northward
      • Central Cascades - between Santiam Pass and Willamette Hwy 58
      • South Cascades - south of Hwy 58
      • Gorge - from Troutdale to the Deschutes River (east of The Dalles)
      • North Central - Northern Central Oregon, not near the Gorge
      • Northeastern
      • Southeastern
      • Eastern - including Ontario
  • government - if set to yes, indicates that the article is supported by the Oregon Government & Politics Workgroup.

To streamline talk pages, it is usually appropriate to remove any unused parameters from the template.
