Emporium

Emporium (medieval Latin from Greek emporos = 'merchant') is a term used for a store selling a wide variety of goods, and for marketplaces or trading centres in ancient cities (see emporia (ancient Greece) and emporia (early medieval)).

The term is also used for:

• North Emporium Inc., a North American conglomerate corporation headquartered in San Diego
• The Emporium, San Francisco, a former department store chain located in San Francisco, California
• Troutman's Emporium, a former department store chain located in Oregon, Washington, California, Nevada and Idaho
• Emporium (Bangkok), a department store in Bangkok, Thailand
• Emporium (short stories), the debut short-story collection of San Francisco writer and Stanford Jones Lecturer Adam Johnson
