TransGeraldton is a system of bus transport in Geraldton, Western Australia. It is part of the Public Transport Authority's TransRegional scheme.[1]

History

Geraldton Bus Service was founded in 1968 by Les Backshell as a school bus operator. In 1989 public services commenced within Geraldton with one bus, this had expanded to eight by 1992. It was sold to the Government of Western Australia in mid-2008. It is operated under contract by Buswest.

Services

TransGeraldton operate eight routes:[2]

  • 800 Geraldton - Durack Institute - Geraldton Regional Hospital - Geraldton (circular route) via Beachlands and Durlacher Street
  • 850 Geraldton - Drummond Cove (Park Vista Square) via Chapman Road and Smugglers Pass
  • 851 Geraldton - Forrester Park (Pinyali Way) via George Road, Chapman Road and Charon Road
  • 852 Geraldton - Spalding (Drew Street) via Wonthella and Crawford Street
  • 853 Geraldton - Utakarra - Rangeway - Geraldton (circular route) via Roberts Road, Solomon Circle and Petchell Street
  • 854 Geraldton - Wandina (McDermott Avenue) via Durlacher Street, Mount Tarcoola and Ocean Queen Drive
  • 855 Geraldton - Mahomets Flats - Tarcoola Beach - Wandina - Mount Tarcoola - Geraldton (circular route) via Willcock Drive, McDermott Avenue, Ocean Queen Drive and Durlancher Street
  • 856 Geraldton - Geraldton Regional Hospital - Durack Institutue - West End - Durack Institute - Geraldton Regional Hospital - Geraldton (circular route) via Beachlands, Marine Terrace, Sailors Lane and Shenton Street

The Smartrider card is valid for use on TransGeraldton services.

Fleet

As at December 2012 the fleet consisted of 19 buses.[3]
