Who am I?[edit]

My name is Mark Chovain. It's an unfortunate name, I know. I've been a registered user of Wikipedia since March 2006.

Who am I really?[edit]

I'm an IT geek on the east coast of Australia. You may be able to find out a little more about me by looking at my userboxes.

What do I do here?[edit]

Most of my time is spent doing one or more of the following:

  • RC patrolling;
  • Reference checking/improving;
  • Finding random articles to improve; or
  • Getting involved in WP:AfDs

I try to avoid focusing on topic areas in which I know I will have preconceptions. I think my greatest contributions to Wikipedia have been in areas I have needed to research in order to help out. Certainly, this is where I personally gain the most.

How do I interact with other editors?[edit]

I'm always happy to help people out: if you want to ask a question, feel free to post it on my talk page.

During my recent change patrolling, I will sometimes make a mistake and revert a good faith edit. Please let me know if that happens so I can improve. Likewise, I'll sometimes have a bad day and bite a newbie or other editor, or break any one of the other guidelines out there. If I do bite, or you think I could improve my editing, just leave a (preferably polite) message on my talk page so I can make amends.

I enjoy discussing edits on article talk pages. I especially enjoy discussing controversial edits, as long as all sides remain civil. I have very little tolerance when it comes to rudeness and incivility.
