Shooting from Gaza Strip into Israel after Operation Pillar of Defense[edit]
Below is a chart showing number of rocket and mortar shells launched from Gaza Strip into Israel since the cease-fire agreement ending Operation Pillar of Defense(Nov. 2012)until the start of Operation Protective Edge (Jun. 2014).[1]
Israel argues that this attack on the Gaza Strip is also in reaction to hundreds of rockets and mortar shell launched by Gaza residents (not necessarily Hamas members) from Gaza Strip into Israel during a period of 19 months in 2012-2014. Israel claims that the ceasefire agreement achieved at the end of Operation Pillar of Defense in November 2012 with Hamas, did not prevent firing into Israel during that period, as shown in the graph below: [2]
