My name is Sarah Stierch. As of January 2012 I am serving as a Community Fellow for the Wikimedia Foundation. I'm focusing on helping to bring more women and women's related content to Wikipedia!
My first contributions were in 2004, but, I ceased due to the lack of #wikilove, only to rejoin Wikipedia in 2006 as an active editor. I live in Washington, D.C., and I am getting my masters in museum studies, I spend the other part of my time in the Bay Area mainly in Sonoma Valley with my family.
From May until October 2011 I served as the Wikipedian-in-Residence at the Archives of American Art and this spring I am serving as such at the Smithsonian Archives. I am active in the GLAM movement, gender studies and women's participation projects involving Wikimedia. I also talk, a lot. An art historian by default, I also have an academic background in Native American studies.
I also have the honor of serving on the advisory board for The Ada Initiative, a non-profit organization that supports women in open source culture and communities, like Wikipedia. I am working on exploring ways to make Wikimedia projects more inclusive for women and to encourage user retention in general, but specifically women. Interested in how public art, Indigenous communities, and cultural institutions can work with Wikimedia? Learn about my public speaking here.
See my bragging rights, aka my collection of Barnstars and kittens. You can check out my exciting collection of userboxes as well.
If you are interested in the gender gap, feel free to follow my scoop.it about media relating to the topic.
I'm rather passionate about my work, my feelings, and myself. Let's be that way about each other, and celebrate the work one another does for a common good.....right?

Birding, dancing, shouting, whispering, eating, drinking, traveling, exploring, wondering, questioning, picking up rocks and seeing what is underneath them....
