The Effects of Hurricane Isaias in the Mainland United States were widespread and damaging. Isaias made landfall near Ocean Isle Beach, North Carolina as a Category 1 hurricane on August 4th, and moved up the East Coast as a strong tropical storm. High winds and heavy rain spread through the East Coast, which resulted in downed trees, widespread power outages, and flooding.

Preparations[edit]

Shortly before the storm arrived, governor Phil Murphy declared a state of emergency for the entire state of New Jersey.[1] New York Governor Andrew Cuomo declared a state of emergency for 14 counties after Isaias passed over.[2]

Impacts[edit]

Throughout the United States East Coast, 15 deaths were recorded, and Isaias resulted in $4 billion in damages.
