Won-Hyo Hyung (원효/元曉) (also tul or poomsae) is an official pattern of the International Taekwon-Do Federation. It consists of 28 movements and is normally the pattern done by green belts, the third hyung that Taekwon-Do members will learn. It has a new degree of difficulty as this is the time that a Taekwon-Do member will thrive and grow. The movements that Won-Hyo is made up of are:

  • twin forearm guarding block
  • inward knifehand strike
  • launching punch
  • side kick
  • knifehand guarding block
  • knifehand block & strike
  • circular block
  • front kick
  • punch
  • fighting stance

The Meaning[edit]

It is named after the noted monk Wonhyo who introduced Buddhism to the Silla Dynasty in the year 686 AD.
