Beer Paddle Chair Cricket (also called Beer Baseball or BPCC) is an agility-based party-game. The goal of the game is to hit a beer can with a paddle through the legs of a chair. It originated in Venezuela among tourists and is frequently played during the tours to Angel Falls. The game can be considered a drinking game, as it typically involves consumption of alcohol. It differs from classical drinking games, however, because the consumption of alcohol is not enforced as part of the game, but rather a prerequisite (empty beer cans or plastic bottles are required).
Gameplay[edit]
Basics[edit]
2 players form a team, where one serves as the kicker and the other one as the batter. Typically a four-legged chair is used as a goal. The kicker and the batter and the chair are about 3 to 5 yards away from each other. First the kicker kicks the can to the batter and he tries to hit it underneath the chair. Near Angel Falls, the batter generally uses a paddle, which is easily available and sometimes even provided by the tour-organisers.
Supplementary Rules[edit]
- Fixed foot: the batter is not allowed to move his foot from the starting position, which increases the difficulty and requires a skilled kicker
- Blow the can in: if the beer can lands close to the chair, the batter is allowed to attempt to get on all fours and attempt to blow the can between the chair legs making the score point.
