RfA thanks!
[edit]Thanks for voting! Hello That Guy, From That Show!/archive/03, and thank you so much for voting in my recent RfA. I am pleased to inform you that it passed with a final tally of (119/1/3), into the WP:100, so I have now been cleared for adminship and will soon be soaring above the clouds. I was overjoyed, shocked, and humbled by the tally, and, most importantly, all the support. Thank you. If there is ever anything you need, you know where you can find me. Take care. |

A short Esperanzial update
[edit]As you may have gathered, discussions have been raging for about a week on the Esperanza talk page as to the future direction of Esperanza. Some of these are still ongoing and warrant more input (such as the idea to scrap the members list altogether). However, some decisions have been made and the charter has hence been amended. See what happened. Basically, the whole leadership has had a reshuffle, so please review the new, improved charter.
As a result, we are electing 4 people this month. They will replace JoanneB and Pschemp and form a new tranche A, serving until December. Elections will begin on 2006-07-02 and last until 2006-07-09. If you wish to run for a Council position, add your name to the list before 2006-07-02. For more details, see Wikipedia:Esperanza/June 2006 elections.
Thanks and kind, Esperanzial regards, —Celestianpower háblame 16:00, 23 June 2006 (UTC)

Wikipedia 0.5
[edit]Hi Guy,
As you may have seen, Wikipedia 0.5 (the test release before WP:1.0) is now up & running, and accepting nominations. That is of course great news, but right now nominated articles are building up much faster than the reviewers can review them. Can you help us clear the backlog by joining the term of reviewers? We are judging whether articles should be included in this test CD version - since it is fairly small (2-500 articles?) we have to limit it to article of both quality and importance, as described here. You can probably focus on articles in your area of interest. Do you have time to help out? Thanks, Walkerma 16:41, 26 May 2006 (UTC)
Link the images, too.
[edit]I'm pretty sure there is a way to make it so that when people click on one of your navigation icons it will direct them to that page instead of the image itself. Just a completely random comment =D --mboverload@ 01:21, 26 May 2006 (UTC)
- It's my 'linky' gauntlet, if people can't click the text, they aren't allowed to see the linked pages ;)

[edit]Why did you revert Teth22's comments as vandalism? If you disagree with its characterisation, that's fine, but he was obviously trying to better the encyclopedia and not vandalize the page.
Also, I think I'm going to steal your "leave a new message" function. Very cool. :)

Tony Moore (musician)
[edit]Hi, the "typo" you corrected on this page was actually quoted directly from the subject's own written account of the event, using his own spelling - that is why I didn't correct it myself.(see external link at the end of the para. As far as I am aware, copyright law allows for the direct quotation of short passages verbatim in other works for purposes of comment or annotation.) Maybe it would be better to leave the original as it was, with the addition of (sic) after the incorrect spelling? Jud 00:23, 16 May 2006 (UTC)
- It should have a [sic] to avoid problems like this. I thought that the quote was finished (it is rather large) hence my grammar fix. I'll add the [sic] and thanks for letting me know about the error.

Helping with two articles
[edit]Hi. I noticed that an article that I wrote for a film called Beautiful Tamar was put under cleanup from the wrong reasons. can you check it out, it's a part of the Avriri group in is important from I understand. Marina T. 11:47, 16 May 2006 (UTC)
This is a friendly reminder to be sure, when proposing an article for deletion using {{prod}} to include a reason in the tag, by adding {{prod|[REASON]}}. Also, please make sure the reason you give is explicit about your concern regarding the article. Thanks! Mangojuicetalk 15:41, 17 May 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks for the information. I was not aware that concerns were always necessary ( like {{speedy}} ).

Thanks for patrolling for grammar, but that quote from The State is most defintely "I wanna dip my balls in it!" not "want to."

About your page
[edit]Hi, I was wondering how you got that template for your Wikipedia User page? Also, how did you make it so that none of it showed up when someone would clik "edit page"? Thanks in advance

Removing Link
[edit]I don't understand why you removed the link to the WikiThePresidency.org. Could you please get back to me about it?
--Falconus 18:24, 14 May 2006 (UTC)
- I removed the link from that page because I felt that after reviewing the wiki that it was very biased. That's my view anyway.
- Be Bold and put the link back in, if others remove it then you should go to the discussion page and give reasons to add it to the article. I won't remove it again.
- Just take care to not edit war. This is very very important.
- And, welcome to Wikipeida :) Regards, —-- That Guy, From That Show! (esperanza) 2006-05-15 02:56

Sneaky sentence at Heteronormativity
[edit]Your edit at Heteronormativity has a summary saying the sentence is being sneaky. My curiosity is piqued—the original, though awkward, appears nominally correct. What bit of arcane language use is it violating? — Saxifrage ✎ 20:39, 13 April 2006 (UTC)
- That was an error, I should have flagged that sentence for a rewrite. I did ~600 copyedits in a few hours and goofed on that word fix. Thanks for noticing it and letting me know. The sentence in question has been re-worded.

Typo corrections
[edit]Thanks for helping with the typos. Be careful, though. Some double occurrences of the word "in" were intentional, such as
- "card...must be handed in in order to vote" (Elections in the Netherlands)
- "The pond was filled in in 1811" (Canal Street (Manhattan))
--Opie 18:30, 14 April 2006 (UTC)
- Usually I either skip those or reword the sentences. I'm a bit tired and will stop soon and get some sleep. Thanks for noticing the mistaken typo fixes.

VandalProof 1.1 is Now Available For Download
[edit]Happy Easter to all of you, and I hope that this version may fix your current problems and perhaps provide you with a few useful new tools. You can download version 1.1 at User:AmiDaniel/VandalProof. Let me warn you, however, to please be extremely careful when using the new Rollback All Contributions feature, as, aside from the excessive server lag it would cause if everyone began using it at once, it could seriously aggitate several editors to have their contributions reverted. If you would like to experiment with it, though, I'd be more than happy to use my many sockpuppets to create some "vandalism" for you to revert. If you have any problems downloading, installing, or otherwise, please tell me about them at User:AmiDaniel/VP/Bugs and I will do my best to help you. Thanks. AmiDaniel (Talk) 06:51, 16 April 2006 (UTC)
- Alright, lemme have you try something. When you log in to VandalProof, could you change your username to: "That_Guy%2C_From_That_Show%21". I've reformatted your name in the list, and I think this might work. AmiDaniel (Talk) 07:32, 16 April 2006 (UTC)
- It doesn't work, but don't feel that you need to spend a lot of time on it since it's probably something goofy about my user name.

- Well, as hard as it is to think about getting another release ready, I will definitely have this fixed in the next version. As I mentioned before, if you would like to create a sockpuppet, say at User:That Guy, From That Show, and then add your typical signature and redirect your talk and user pages, I'd be more than glad to add that account to the list. Of course, your edits with that account won't be reflected on your main account, but I could definitely get that username working for you. Just a thought. And I'm glad to work as long as I must to get this fixed; it makes me feel bad that you're being outcasted because of your exclamation point. I don't want to be labeled an "anti-exclamationite" lol! Anyway, I'm willing to do anything I can to help. AmiDaniel (Talk) 09:06, 16 April 2006 (UTC)

Attack of the the Eye Creatures
[edit]I'm afraid your otherwise excellent grammar fixing effort was out of place for the article The Eye Creatures, in which you removed two instances of "the the" that were meant as-is, and that were explained in the text from which you removed them. I suggest you examine the sentences in which you find these apparent errors to avoid these infrequent cases where the "errors" are intentional. (I'd considered adding a "[sic]" to these instances, but it's superfluous when the text itself describes the problem.) Thank you for your cooperation. ~ Jeff Q (talk) 22:26, 20 April 2006 (UTC)
- Thank you for the feedback. I'll keep a closer eye on the overall context to avoid "fixing" intentional errors.

(let us assume 1915 and ask for cites)
[edit]Really, you had me going at Boston Lodge when you turned a correct but clumsy 'Decline set in in the 1920's' into a meaningless 'Decline set in the 1920's' and then suggested 1915 and the need for a citation! Humbug sir! and I hope the others tell you the same thing. I have had to change it as the result of your intervention but don't you dare find fault with 'Great War' and 'munitions' which are named in the language of the times. NoelWalley 13:01, 23 April 2006 (UTC)
- It was an honest mistake. That specific edit summary was meant for this edit but it seems that I continued to CTRL-V that summary into a few unrelated articles.

Many thanks, the original paragraph was mostly not mine but it gave me the urge to tidy it up a bit! I did wonder what further citation you felt you needed since the FR is so very well recordeded by J I C Boyd and others. Regards, NoelWalley 19:01, 23 April 2006 (UTC)

Permission to use IRC logs.
[edit]Hey there, I was wondering if I had your permission to publish some of your IRC chat on Wikipedia, specifically:
<removed>
I previously had these up in accordance to m:IRC Channels, as the channel you said it in #vandalism-en-wp did not have a rule against logging visible on a related website or on WP:IRC and related pages. However, despite the fact that the logs were related to a ongoing discussion, and they were trimmed to size, a administrator with personal involvement to the issue deleted the content. As such, I am seeking permission of use from every user I am quoted. Your cooperation would be appreciated.

The reverting back done by you is not a good one. The text still have words like Macdonalds etc. In place of Sudan there is some other place name. etc. May be you need to revert back on more older version or may be hand edit. I need to sleep as it is 5:00 am now hence cannot do a good edit myself. --- Faisal 00:09, 28 April 2006 (UTC)

- Yeah, Wikipedia does take a lot of my time. But, as shown by when Bluemoose and Adrian "quit" and then came back, it's highly addictive. Welcome to Esperanza!
[edit]Welcome, That Guy, From That Show!/archive/03, to Esperanza, the Wikipedia member association! As you might know, all the Esperanzians share one important goal: the success of this encyclopedia. Within that, we then attempt to strengthen the community bonds, and be the "approachable" side of the project. All of our ideals are held in the Charter, the governing document of the association.
Now that you are a member you should read the guide to what to do now or you may be interested in some of our programs. A quite important program is the StressUnit, which seeks to support editors who have encountered any stress from their Wikipedia events, and are seeking to leave the project. So far, Esperanza can be credited with the support and retention of several users. We will send you newsletters to keep you up to date. Also, we have a calendar of special events, member birthdays, and other holidays that you can add to and follow.
In addition to these projects, several more missions of Esperanza are in development, and are currently being created at Esperanza/Possibles.
I encourage you to take an active voice in the running of Esperanza. We have a small government system, headed by our Administrator general, Celestianpower, and guided by the Advisory Committee comprised of JoanneB, FireFox and Titoxd. The next set of elections are right now.
If you have any other questions, concerns, comments, or general ideas, Esperanzian or otherwise, know that you can always contact Celestianpower by email or talk page or the Esperanza talk page. Alternatively, you could communicate with fellow users via our IRC channel, #wikipedia-esperanza (which is also good for a fun chat or two :). If you're new to IRC, please see the IRC tutorial. I thank you for joining Esperanza, and look forward to working with you in making Wikipedia a better place to work!
