Serdar Selamet is an associate professor of civil engineering at Bogazici University. His research interests include structural engineering, computational mechanics, fire engineering, structural and cold-formed steel design, and steel connections. He has made significant contributions to the field of fire engineering, particularly in the development of robust and resilient steel structures.[5][6]

Scientific Impact[edit]

Selamet has published over 50 papers on fire engineering, which received more than 400 citations.[5] He is known for his work in promoting the fire engineering discipline within the undergraduate and graduate education system in Turkey. He has published the first and only fire engineering textbook in Turkey.[7][8][9][10]

He has also been involved in various standards forming committees in the United States[11] and Turkey[12], working towards improving performance-based design in fire engineering.
