These are people I've been very inspired by in life.

Celebrities

Scientists

• Aubrey de Gray: A computer scientist turned biogerontologist, is english and quirky, a bikeriding badass, and has long hair and a huge beard. Also has an appreciation for the older ladies.
• James D. Watson: I greatly enjoyed his book DNA: The Secret of Life, and am starting on Girls, Genes and Gamow. He is a great writer and I agree with all of his views. It is a shame he is so old, I dearly hope medicine is able to progress to preserve this mind and this man.
• George Gamow: From what little I've experienced of the man through his letters to Watson, I love his kookiness already. He's a mad scientist who crosses stuff like genetics and physics math modelling, that's what science is truly about. Pursuing dreams in all directions. From what I've read from G, G & G, he's also very hearty, a large man (I bet he was strong) and could really down some alchohol, as well as being a hobby magician, which is something else I'd like to do! Nothing better than magic+science.
• Walter Crick: I am considering him from what I've read of his work in neuroscience but I want to read some of his books and more material concerning him first.
• Stephen Hawking: Having completed A Briefer History of Time, more than half of A Brief History of Time and watching all of Stephen Hawking's Universe I really love this guy, his theories, his humour, what he's gotten past, great guy.
• Thomas Edison and Albert Einstein of course, like everyone

Athletes

• Pavel Tsatsouline: Slightly over-macho, but still a good motivator capitalizing on his russian nationality to market stuff like flexibility in a hardcore way, and emphasizing strength over muscle. Taught the Russian military ops or something.
• Scott Sonnon: I like his clubbell equipment, going to buy some some day. The circular approach to fitness is interesting and I like the lack of the need to be 'badass' exemplified by my barbedwirebell analogy. Apparently competed in Sambo in Russia.
• Vladimir Ryabkov: An internet phenomenon, a guy apparently located somewhere in Toronto from Russia. He looks overweight but leads Systema classes, and apparently has psychic powers. He's like Numa guy, Star Wars Kid, and Radki all combined, all of which I also love. Cept I have a feeling this guy can probably kick ass, I am just suspicious of it.
• Ross Enamait: I like his connection with his fans, the forums and the personal answering and the free videos and guides he gives out. A traditionalist approach, I like how it's oriented to boxing while being widely applicable.
• Chiyonofuji Mitsugu: I have a great respect for this guy. In addition to being a sumo wrestler, he was an avid strength trainer. He began short, thin, and weak. Through dedicated healthy eating, training way harder than all the other sumo, and practise, he became a champion. A champion not of weight, he was one of the lightest, and also one of the smallest, but through pure power and dedication. I'm sure he was smart, but even if he wasn't, he overcame that.
• Ryan Shenahan: Neat guy, does this Energy Flow thing. Don't know much, but I like the ideas of it, he was on TV and apparently trained the Olsen twins for a while. Good addition to fitness research.
• David Patchell-Adams: Creator of Goodlife Fitness, author, businessman, started Can-Fit-Pro. Pretty impressive, read the guy's book. Very confident, can't say I agree with everything but a simple good philosophy.

Performing artists

• Korikki: I don't know much about this guy, but he's appparently some kind of Japanese show wrestler. I like how he dances with the Hinoi team, they're quite cute. For a wrestler, even if a bit pudgy he has great skin, a neat form, and a cool personality. In the Night of Fire remix he breathes fire and has the best cape.
• Michael Jackson: Old music was great, an awesome dancer. Appreciates youth and childhood elements like Peter Pan (who does want to grow up?), spends his money on cool stuff like a theme park, does quirky stuff like name his kid Blanket, and modifies his appearance in accordance with his desires.
• Criss Angel Mind Freak: This guy is amazing. He personifies what I'd like with learning magic, is a stuntman, a great athlete, looks damn sexy, does music, is goth, man, if he would demonstrate some martial arts, science, fantasy, anime, gaming and computer interests, that's my perfect self all balled up :) He's also done some of the most crazy magic I've seen, I can't even explain it. Where do you hide the card when you're levitating 80ft in the air? Then again, he might be using fake TV tricks, as LS says, so I won't try to jump to worshipping.

Angelic voices

Voice actresses who have voiced characters (often dozens...) who I really admire, mostly of the female variety

• Jaleel White: That said, he did Sonic the Hedgehog, his brother Manic, and Steve Urkel.
• Kath Soucie: My angel! Sally Acorn, that Bride of Frankstein chick from Darkwing Duck and a huge list I forgot about but marvelled over when I saw it.
• Tara Strong: So many varied roles...
• Tegan Moss: Lady Zera, one of my few true blue non-mammalian fictional loves, along with Princess Ruto who didn't have a voice.
• Hynden Walch: Can't remember.
• Cree Summer: Can't remember
• Melissa Altro and Olivia Garratt: Err...

(so far these are all males, I'll try and add some females once I overcome my sexism enough to look past my enamorment to qualities I'd like to emulate)

Heroes

Anime

• Rock Lee: hard worker, never shows his depths, never stops, finds his rolemodel, kicking master through pure adaptation, unlocks the bounds of his body and mind through his will to surpass even Hokage.
• Choji: even though he seems lazy, has a high value for friendship, gets mad when he's called fat like I am, his clan has special magic foods like soldier pills that make him stronger than a Hokage, butterfly wings.
• Balgus: disciplined, gentle but firm, well-tempered
• Spike: a greater fighter, coolheaded, spunky, plays with opponents, serious, surpasses bodily injury
• Vampire Hunter D: powerful methodical fighter, a mercenary with compassion, overcomes and utilizes his nature for his desires, pale and fights through the sunlight
• Miroku, Naruto, Jiraiya: They manage to remain total perverts while also being funny heroes who, while not especially talented, have great potential and make great warriors.
• Edward Elric of Fullmetal Alchemist. I'm only on about the fourth episode of this series and I already love this guy. It's cute how he gets sensitive about his height, even if I don't have the problem. Long blonde hair, uses alchemy (chemistry) to try and modify humans against what others want... wants to overcome death... cybernetic limbs, martial arts... just neat. I'm going to cosplay him some day. Hopefully I can shrink a bit.
• Himura Kenshin because of his avoiding suicide no matter how bad he feels, being gentlehearted, a complete combat master, and willing to but himself in danger with complete determination to persevere. Plus he's just funny and gets Kaoru :)
• Yashimoto the detective from Cybersix. He's a supersleuth if I ever saw one. Makes me want to get a private detective's license, he's a great hacker and surveillance expert. Love his martial arts, his grappling hook gun, and how he takes care of his little sister.

Games

• Vincent Valentine: best of the turks, has hidden monsters within he masters
• Edgar Figaro: a talented scientist and shameless flirt, gets rough and tumble as an engineer
• Shadow: a seemingly ruthless man everyone fears who is good deep down with compassion for his dog and daughter, brave enough to head off Kefka
• Setzer: a long-haired gambler with cards as weapon with an airship who goes for Celes, very spunky

Comics

• The Flash: My fascination with Garrick, Allen and West is rather recent. The mythology has grown on me. I've listened to The Ballad of Barry Allen, watched Justice League, and awesome AMV when he fights Lex Brainiac, and read all sorts of Flash comics (including Flash vs Superman). It's just awesome, to be faster, unlimited by time, to be able to run anyway, so fast you vibrate through objects, or travel through time, or heal your wounds, or punch so fast your arm effectively just... grows.
• Superman: I used to really hate Superman. He was just too good, he had all the powers. Now though, after reading more of his stuff, I just love the mythology. The character isn't much... sure he's a goody two-shoes, but that's nothing that special, but his laser eyes glow in the dark, if he changed his costume...
• Batman: Even though he was born rich, he's still very much a self-made man. He greatly expanded on his parent's fortunes, became a master of martial arts, espionage, detective work, chemistry, computers... to be honest, I love the idea of normal guys who become superheroes, and he even manages to outmatch the superhumans. I plan to follow in his footsteps in some regards, though with a different outlook (for example, I have nothing to avenge, so I'm focusing on self-preservation, defence, and longevity, rather than hunting criminals).
• Mr. Terrific: A member of the Justice Society of America, he impressed me a great deal. Moreso in the case of the original, he is a jack of all trades as I aspire to be, but also a master of all. He's also very moral and cares greatly about others, something that's probably an asset-like skill in and of itself. His mimicker is pretty okay too, I like his techno-spheres.
• Lindesfarne and Fenton from Kevin and Kell. A very smart girl hedgehog, unsure heritage, geneticist. A similarly smart boy bat who strength trains and computers computer.
• Spider-Man: I've always been a fan of Spider-Man. The geek-scientist is nothing new, it's been done with the Hulk and probably a lot of others. Peter Parker is cool, I want to be a chem and biochem major like him, who is flexible, fast, can take a lot of damage, is strong, smart, etc. I'm not sure I'd go for the Mary Jane type, more likely I'd go for the secretary Peggy Brant or the Black Cat, more my type in either case, or a nice geek girl. Anyway... I like Spider-Man, I've seen all three cartoons (2099 never attracted me), have read MANY of the comics, and am considering buying all comics to 2000 on CD someday. Right after I finish Uncanny X-Men.
• The Hulk: Actually, I think I only read the first issue of the comic. The rest of my exposure comes from the cartoons (which I barely saw any of), the book Doom's Day when he teamed with Spider-Man, mention from other heroes, and isolated appearances. I'm not so much sold on the character (though he is cool) but what was done in the recent movie. It got more into the genetics, but also metaphysical and philosophical manifestations of power. The battle between him and absorbing man was great, in the metaphorical sense, since the actual fight was weird and confusing. The writers though, they do good drama, even if it's hidden and seems lame until you lookharder.
• X-Men: (various, like Beast, etc. expand later)

Villains

• Fulcon: Powerful yet avoids hotheadedness, a dreamer, channels his sadness, a builder and a destroyer
• Sephiroth: seek truth, surpass self, power, mastery, looks cool, angry, doesn't want to die, manipulates events, ruthless
• Vincent (Cowboy Bebop): following beliefs, laid back progression, looks cool, intelligence and physical power
• Kain Highwind: speaks his mind, heeds his emotions, willing to go against his friends for what he wants, jumps real high
• Meier Link: cultured, seems arrogant but isn't, loves very deeply, brave
• Ansem: a scientist, great looks, risks his heart in the quest for truth and manifesting reality
• Morbius: a biochemist who attempted to overcome his afflictions and became a vampire in the process. My exposure is more to that in Spider-Man: The Animated Series so I'm not as sure about his comic incarnation. He wins the Black Cat :)
• Man-Bat: Similar to Morbeus, though not as well explored. I love the idea of half-human half-bat, and he uses the procedure, quelled by love like the Beast.
• The Joker: While not holding any credentials, the guy is simply a jack of all trades, master chemist, arsonist, bomber, and even though (to my knowledge) he's never been trained to fight, he can throw a punch. Pure learned brutality. Why do I like him? Beyond his resourcefulness, the guy is a genius, and as mentioned in Arkham Asylum, not actually insane, but rather hyper-aware and psychopathic because of it. Psychopathies and many negative mental conditions are not insanity. Insanity is being out of touch with reality, merely one way to be abnormal and potentially disfunctional.

Doctors

• Doctor Octopus: Dr. Otto Octavius, in both his comic and movie representations, the guy is just cool, a scientist with a specialty in metaphor, a down to earth sort of hands-on guy.
• The Lizard: Dr. Kurt Connors, a geneticist who harnesses the power of reptiles to regrow his lost limb, a testament to both the potential and the dangers of this science.
• Mr. Freeze: Totally awesome guy. Into immortality through cryogenics, a genius, in love, becomes totally brutal with cool powers, and also has a suit of power armour.
• Poison Ivy: I like how she's so into plants, a PhD, totally sexy, and like Batman, her lack of concern with romance makes her all the more successful at using it as a tool and such.
• The Scarecrow: While not really the most impressive personality, his visuals and methods (scythe, fear gas, horse, fire breath...) are just wicked, and any episode with him ends up with wicked visuals. An okay job in Batman Begins I suppose, but cartoon and more so comics do the best. Read all the major ones. also PhD :)
• Harley Quinn: A psychiatrist, a gymnast, and as hardcore as she is she knows how to feel and love and indulge in the crazy side of life, but still comes back now and then.
