Your import request

Hello. Unfortunately I've had to decline your request at WP:RM/TR for the simple reason that it is not possible for an English Wikipedia admin to make an import in the Spanish Wikipedia. That is, we can import stuff here no problem, but to import stuff on the es.wiki you need a Spanish Wiki admin. I'd suggest making your request on that project, but I don't know enough about that project to say exactly where you should make your request. Best, Jenks24 (talk) 12:04, 2 December 2015 (UTC)

Invasive species in Mexico

AWB adds unicode characters in places like "250 km" or "20 cm" because Wikipedia wants a non-breaking space in constructions like that — if the construction falls close to the end of a line of text, we don't want the line break to the next line falling between the number and the unit, but rather we need to ensure that the whole construction stays on the same line. Not everybody's viewing Wikipedia with the same screen resolution on their monitor or tablet or phone, so the fact that it might not appearing be anywhere near the end of a line for you doesn't mean it isn't appearing at the end of a line for somebody else — so it's actually a Wikipedia rule that number-unit constructions should always be written with the unicode for a non-breaking space between the number and the unit, and that's why AWB automatically does that. Citations for Invasive species in Mexico

Hello, On the talk page of Invasive species in Mexico, you requested that references be "Wiki-fied". I've started putting the references in as in-line citations using the citation templates, so that they appear in the body of the text as numbers and then in the list at the bottom of the page. The banner at the top of the article said not to edit while translation was in progress, but I haven't changed any content, only added citations in the text. Was this what you intended? May I ask if you or @DferDaisy: plan to continue translating the remaining half of this article from Spanish? There's been an "in translation" tag there since December 2015, though I can't find the article from which it is being translated. Personally, I think the article is far too long and essay-like, and would be better off cut down and including (or linking to) a List of Invasive Species of Mexico based on those citations. @DferDaisy: and @Parkywiki: Apologies for leaving the page in such disarray, I haven't been on the wiki in some time. I stumbled across it doing some work for the GOCE. To summarize the reason for its current state, it was originally written in Spanish on the English wiki; there is no corresponding page on the Spanish wiki, and I was unable to confirm a method of transferring it there, so I began translating it as is. It wasn't until after I began that I realized it was written in essay format. However some of the information seems valuable, so I intended to finish the translation and let someone more versed in wiki-style clean it up.

If there is interest, I could probably find the time to finish the translation this month. Properly formatted citations are a great help and, to me, a reason for the article to keep existing, but it certainly needs quite a bit of work. 2macia22 (talk) 03:42, 4 February 2017 (UTC)

There does seem to be some overlap in the top of the article with the general Invasive species page, but the more interesting Mexico-specific information is still left later in the article. Hi, if you're so inclined: there are a number of people in the Spanish Wikipedia category Victimas de Sendero Luminoso who don't have English articles and don't have adequate English-language sources that I can find oonline.
