User talk:AL31T
Hi, AL31T, and Welcome to Wikipedia! Thanks for your contributions. Here are a few good links for newcomers:
I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (e.g. ~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you have any questions, check out Wikipedia:Where to ask a question.
When beginning an article, you should write a brief statement about the thing or person to begin with, which summarizes their importance, and it should explain in English. For instance,
The Bayreuther Osterfestival is an Easter Festival held at Bayreuth in Germany. It has the three aims of raising money for cancer charities, providing experience and opportunities for young musicians, and the promotion of international understanding. It is connected with the work of the International Youth Orchestra Academy, and was founded in 1994.
(This is pretty much like your opening paragraph, but a bit shorter, and it should be right at the top of the page. You want a sort of 'tag-line' to lead in to any article.) Then you go on to expand the theme.
It is particularly helpful if you are writing a new article, if you can give some reliable published source for the information you are presenting. In the case of the orchestra or the Festival, for instance, reference to their programmes, to press reports, or any formal publication will make all the difference. Articles without any references for the information they contain sometimes get deleted! All you have to do is, when you have written the article, make another heading called 'Sources' (using the capital A button on the toolbar above where you are writing), and just write the sources in below. To make them appear bulleted, put an asterisk (*) in front of each item. If possible, a reference should include a date and place of publication, a publication title, and an author where this is known, e.g.
J. Winckelmann, Geschichte der Kunst des Altertums (Phaidon, Wien 1934).
Best wishes, and please keep informing us about the musicians or anything else! Eebahgum 22:51, 21 October 2007 (UTC)
Speedy deletion of International Masterclasses
[edit]A tag has been placed on International Masterclasses, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be blatant advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read our the guidelines on spam as well as the Wikipedia:Business' FAQ for more information.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.
