POV tag on Circumcision article[edit]

I appreciate your analysis and conclusion that this article is disputed. However, currently, the Circumcision article is an example of a clear ownership violation, with the main "owner" being user Jakew. Jake Waskett is a circumcision advocate, involved with circumcision advocacy groups, and pushing a pro-circumcision point of view on any article remotely related to circumcision. He engages in heavy handed, one-sided editing of these articles, freely reverting any change he sees as casting circumcision in a more negative light, or alluding to any controversy or rejection of circumcision. He is in the curious position of being responsible for the three or four sentences in the huge circumcision article which purport to present arguments of those opposed to the procedure, while making sure that a reader has an immediate averse reaction to said presentations; in some cases, blatantly misrepresenting opinions of others in order to achieve this goal. The article's neutrality is clearly heavily disputed, but the owners do not wish to have this dispute easily seen, since it casts a shadow on the heavily pro-circumcision POV of the article. Note even that the word "controversy" appears nowhere in the circumcision article with regard to its subject -- to acknowledge the circumcision controversy would force the owners to present arguments of those opposed.

Unfortunately, a major barrier to overcoming this lack of balance and neutral point of view is the fact that three Wikipedia administrators who patrol the article, Jayjg, Avraham, and Nandesuka, support Jakew's advocacy, cause, and edits without fail. Should anyone attempt to edit the article contrary to Jakew's design, they are promptly given administrative threats.

If you wish to right this wrong and engage in discussion on how to make the article conform to Wikipedia policy and guideline, please become a contributor to the article's Talk page. Blackworm 22:21, 13 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
