Music in or of England/English Music[edit]

Hi Angelstorm! I looked at your Userpage and I thought it was cool.
Some time ago you very wisely redirected an article on Music of England to a 'Folk Music of England' because that was the way the article had developed, and as you rightly observed the text was unsuitable to that generic title. It would now be useful to detach the redirects from this Folk Music page in order to create appropriate generic articles on English Music or Music of England. I'm afraid I can't work out how to detach these useful titles from the Folk Music article - can you advise me? The first thing wld be to create a disambiguation page 'English music' which pointed those in search of the Folkmusic article to it, without auto redirection. best wishes, Dr Steven Plunkett 10:53, 1 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • Hi Steven, thanks for the message. It looks like someone has already created a blank article at Music_of_england, which is good because I had no idea how to do it :) I hope the articles get sorted out. It was ( and is ) a complete mess, I just didn't have time to do anything other than make the move. Thanks for the support too ... it seems a few users have jumped on the discussion for that article, without the clear head you seem to demonstrate :) Rgds .. Hi, I don't think you were correct in your judgement that the "Article deals almost exclusively with Folk Music, and is not representitive of an generic article entitled "Music of England"". The fact is the article clearly was not intended to focus solely on Folk Music even if you thought that it did. If you thought other subjects needed covering in greater depth you should have just tried to improve it or asked other people to do so on the talk page (and definitely not just moved it without asking anybody as it is not easy to move things back). Hi sorry I see you did discuss it before moving...the situation is confused as we have all the articles at Music of the United Kingdom which covers a lot of english music so people probably came to the english music page not realizing all these other articles existed. Anyway we're going to try and work out what needs to be done on the article talkpage. Cheers Gustav von Humpelschmumpel 22:30, 1 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your message Angelstorm. You're like me, can't figure that out. :) Okay, I'm just going to carry on writing little articles and I'll let these guys go wild over the hierarchies! PS I go right back to the original Doctor... b.w. Dr Steven Plunkett 02:22, 4 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguation link notification for April 11[edit]

Hi. When you recently edited Bikram Yoga, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Madonna and David Robinson (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.
