Welcome![edit]

Hello, Annamarkelin, and welcome to Wikipedia! My name is Ian and I work with Wiki Education; I help support students who are editing as part of a class assignment.

I hope you enjoy editing here. If you haven't already done so, please check out the student training library, which introduces you to editing and Wikipedia's core principles. You may also want to check out the Teahouse, a community of Wikipedia editors dedicated to helping new users. Below are some resources to help you get started editing.

Article issues[edit]

Your additions to the Women in STEM fields included text that was copied verbatim from your source and not marked as a quotation. For copyright reasons, your additions had to be removed. In addition, the text that you did mark as a quote was overly long. Since it was marked as a quote, it wasn't plagiarism, but it is likely to still be a problem from a copyright perspective.

Everything you add to Wikipedia should be written entirely in your own words. Quotations should only be used where the precise wording significantly improves the reader's understanding of the topic, and even then, it should rarely be more than 3-5 words. The quote you added was long, and the content could easily have been rewritten entirely in your own words.

I recommend that you revisit the Plagiarism and Copyright training module before making additional edits. Ian (Wiki Ed) (talk) 14:52, 9 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
