AR summaries

Try not to rely too much on the official AR webpages to create the location summaries, b/c they contain a lot of mistakes: incorrect spellings, wrong locations, etc. --Madchester 16:14, 2005 May 12 (UTC)

Roadblock limit

While some teams in the past relied one team member more than the other for roadblocks, it was really the 5th season that put it OTT. The women on the Final 3 only did one RB each, while the 4th and 5th place teams (consisting of two females) split the RB tally fairly evenly. The new RB limit was made to give all-female teams a better chance of winning, given the circumstances at the end of Season 5. --Madchester 15:30, 2005 May 22 (UTC)

While there were imbalances in previous seasons, it was Season 5 that really put the gender bias OTT. And that's why the producers changed the rules for the roadblocks in Season 6. I think I stated it really clearly above. It wasn't enough of an issue to warrant changes a year or two earlier. --Madchester 05:21, 2005 May 23 (UTC)

Dubai Roadblock

All I can recall is:

A) The guys (in the couples teams) did the RB.... but I don't remember who in the all girl teams (Kami/Karli, Linda/Karen) did the task. I think they mentioned it in certain interviews, but I dont know if you can find them online anymore. B) I'm under the assumption it was done before the Detour, because it was some kind of searching RB in a Dubai marketplace.

Since no one took behind the scenes photos of it like the Banff task, it's kind of hard to figure out what happened there. The best way to check is to watch the actual episode and to see the teams before and after reading each clue.... cuz if they've suddenly changed locations, you know they skipped a task or two.... just like the Chicago finale in Season 6. Teams were shown arriving at that Water Tower in downtown, but after reading the clue, they were shown in some industrial area looking for a taxi A lot of Chicago viewers noticed that error.... --Madchester 14:22, 2005 May 30 (UTC)

I would guess that it happened before the detour... cuz i doubt they would make the teams go back into Dubai after the Detour... when the Pit Stop is in some Desert Oasis. The best way to check to see where the teams actually are when they're "reading" the clues, but I don't have that episode on me.... --Madchester 21:03, 2005 May 30 (UTC)

AR6 Sweden Pit Stop

What's the source for the 36 hr pit stop in Sweden? Lots of teams mentioned the other 2 extended stops, but I don't remember about Sweden... After the Sweden leg, I remember reading about teams spending the night on that boat.--Madchester 21:57, 2005 Jun 15 (UTC)

Maya cut-and-paste page moves

Please see Wikipedia:How to rename (move) a page. Cut-and-paste moves like the ones you just did are bad because they destroy page histories. I'll revert those quickly; then, if you like, proceed in accordance with the instructions on that page. Hajor 18:36, 20 Jun 2005 (UTC)

If you think Maya, Maya civilization, and the rest are in the wrong place (and you might have a point), you could also bring it up on Wikipedia:Requested moves. Hajor
Ok. Follow the procedure on Wikipedia:Requested moves and it'll get discussed. What is it you want exactly -- the current Maya civilization article moved to Maya? Hajor 28 June 2005 14:23 (UTC)

Change descriptions are useful

Please leave descriptions of changes to main articles (e.g. not talk) pages so that people like me that go to look at the history of a page don't have to guess at what's going on. Thanks! -Harmil 03:24, 27 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Amazing Race 8 future legs

This is the 3rdd time I've removed that Niagara Falls bit. Here's what I wrote to the last two ppl who added that detail:

I removed the Niagara Falls bit, because it's speculation at best. I've seen the photo of the cluebox but, it could easily be a decoy... just like how they had decoy runs in Dallas and NYC last season. Like last season, Gretchen was at the Dallas Book Depository for a fake leg, and she was instructed to purposely drop a clue in front of a crowd, so that people could see physical evidence of the race "actually being there" and throw people off. There's not even a photo of a single team (real or decoy) at the Falls cluebox. Not enough hard evidence to warrant mention... --Madchester 23:23, 26 October 2005 (UTC)

Calgary page

I had to revert your recent edit to the page, Calgary. Redirecting to the dismabig. page for Calgary is not appropriate and does not conform to Wikipedia standards. Of the 3 "Calgary's", Calgary, Alberta is a major city with over a million people and one of Canada's hub cities. Calgary, Mull is a tiny spec on map of Scotland that most people have never heard of, and Fort Calgary is WITHIN Calgary, Alberta. Thus, the VAST majority of people will be wanting to go to the page for Calgary, Alberta and not one of the other two. The Calgary, Alberta page has a disambiguation link in it anyway. This change has been made before and can be seen in the history for these pages. Please do not make it again. Thank you. - Tyson2k 20:26, 29 October 2005 (UTC)

Amazing Race teams

I removed the listings for the teams, because those details can be easily accessed via the external links to the official site. The only reason why the teams box was included for The Amazing Race 8 is because of the sheer number of contestants. That was created so it would "distinguish" the individuals on each team.

Also, a lot of the information on the boxes have become outdated... Kris moved in with Jon in Scottsdale before the race, so they really weren't long distance daters, except on their original application form. Kristy got married, so she's not a Jensen anymore. And Aaron is at culinary school, so he's dropped his acting/modelling career.

This isn't like The Apprentice pages, where the actual occupations of the contestants are clearly listed on the show. --Madchester 03:50, 3 November 2005 (UTC)

hurricane buttons

I appreciate the work you've done adding buttons to various hurricanes. However, it is unacceptable for these buttons to come from a template that is on a talk page. You absolutely must move all of these templates to real template pages, and update all of the storm pages to match. This is why I said when you guys started work on this that you needed to think about the design ahead of time. The amount of work it will take you to go back and fix all of the button bars will be just as much as it took you to make them in the first place. But it is work that must be done for these button bars to remain. Jdorje 20:51, 7 November 2005 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading Image:Hikari Sentai Maskman.jpg. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the image, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created the image yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the image on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the image yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the image also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture then you can use {{GFDL}} to release it under the GFDL. If you can claim fair use use {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or {{fairuse}}. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other images, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of image pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thanks so much. --Nv8200p talk 20:03, 9 December 2005 (UTC)

Moving pages

If you wish to move pages, please don't copy and paste, as that destroys the edit history of the article. If you wish to move the page, please ask an admin to do so. --AySz88^-^ 22:59, 7 January 2006 (UTC)

Yes, the reason is fine, but you have to use the "move" button at the top of the screen (next to "history") instead of copying and pasting. If that button doesn't work, you need to ask an admin to help. --AySz88^-^ 23:06, 7 January 2006 (UTC)

hi

hey, I'm JLK Name from Survivorsucks remember me? It's funny that I saw ur name in my watchlist I thought ur inactive in internet--Hotwiki 09:49, 8 January 2006 (UTC)

State flags for Amazing Race

The point of those flags were really for the family edition where it was mostly state-hopping. Other than some exceptional cases (like Hong Kong), there's really no need to include an additional flag to identify a location for the other season. Thanks. --Madchester 18:08, 8 January 2006 (UTC)

otherhurricaneuses

There's no need for 2 templates. One template will be just fine, with some checks. See {{otherhurricaneuses}}. Also I'm not sure about the name...most new templates use "tropical cyclone", not "hurricane". Maybe {{tcotheruses}} or {{othertcuses}}. What do you think? — jdorje (talk) 04:35, 16 February 2006 (UTC)

Cool. I like that there's a template. I just think it would be easier with 1 template that takes 2 optional parameters rather than 2 separate templates. See — jdorje (talk) 04:42, 16 February 2006 (UTC)
Not sure what you mean. One template can work with 0, 1, or 2 parameters. Consider:
— jdorje (talk) 04:45, 16 February 2006 (UTC)
And, see Hurricane Floyd for the 0-parameter case. — jdorje (talk) 04:47, 16 February 2006 (UTC)

Sure, we can worry about the name later. My main point is that {{otherhurricaneuses2}} isn't needed at all. You can always just use {{otherhurricaneuses}}. — jdorje (talk) 04:56, 16 February 2006 (UTC)
