Unspecified source for Image:Mills_Hall.JPG

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Mills_Hall.JPG. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self-no-disclaimers}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 17:23, 8 March 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. howcheng {chat} 17:23, 8 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. I've noticed that the licensing tag on the above-referenced image claims that it is licensed under a Creative Commons license, but you don't specify a source or claim an authorship for the image, and I suspect that the image's copyright status is actually more along the lines that it is owned by Mills College. There is nothing wrong with using the image on Wikipedia's article about Mills even if it is copyrighted (the userbox is another story, but I can fix that for you like I fixed USF's {{usfca}}), but it needs to be correctly labeled in regards to its copyright status and include a fair-use statement. Please let us know if this is an image you have created yourself or which Mills has decided to release into the public domain and review the criteria for fair use on Wikipedia. Thanks.

If you have a close connection to some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article Mills College, you may have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, edits where there is a conflict of interest, or where such a conflict might reasonably be inferred from the tone of the edit and the proximity of the editor to the subject, are strongly discouraged. Lack of photo source information

[edit]

The photos you uploaded currently lack information on their source. A source is needed so that the licensing of the photos can be verified. Images that lack sourcing can be deleted. Someone from the college needs to send an email to "permissions-en AT wikimedia DOT org" confirming the licensing of the photos. Wikipedia has a standard declaration of consent that can be used for this. Thank you. BlueAzure (talk) 06:00, 13 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Janet L. Holmgren

[edit]

Hello, Catsmith mills. Concerning your contribution, Janet L. Holmgren, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from either web sites or printed material without the permission of the author. This article or image appears to be a direct copy from http://www.mills.edu/administration/presidents_office/bio.php. As a copyright violation, Janet L. Holmgren appears to qualify for deletion under the speedy deletion criteria. Janet L. Holmgren has been tagged for deletion, and may have been deleted by the time you see this message. For text material, please consider rewriting the content and citing the source, provided that it is credible.

If you believe that the article or image is not a copyright violation, or if you have permission from the copyright holder to release the content freely under the GNU Free Documentation License (GFDL) then you should do one of the following:

  • If you have permission from the author, leave a message explaining the details at Talk:Janet L. Holmgren and send an email with the message to "permissions-en (at) wikimedia (dot) org". See Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for instructions.
  • If a note on the original website states that re-use is permitted under the GFDL or released into the public domain leave a note at Talk:Janet L. Holmgren with a link to where we can find that note.
  • If you own the copyright to the material: send an e-mail from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en(at)wikimedia(dot)org or a postal message to the Wikimedia Foundation permitting re-use under the GFDL, and note that you have done so on Talk:Janet L. Holmgren.

However, for text content, you may want to consider rewriting the content in your own words. Thank you, and please feel free to continue contributing to Wikipedia. BlueAzure (talk) 16:02, 16 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

She is important enough that I fixed it for you. However, I ask you not to do this again. You cannot use published publicity material, images, or or web pages on WP unless you release the copyright under GFDL as explained above. Fix that image also, as asked for, or it will soon get deleted. As you must realise, it is necessary for WP to give strict observance to copyright requirements. Orphaned non-free media (Image:Mills Logo.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Mills Logo.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Unreferenced BLPs

[edit]

Hello Catsmith mills! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring this article up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 3 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the article:

  1. Janet L. Holmgren - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL

File permission problem with File:Mills College.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Mills College.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

ATTENTION: This is an automated, BOT-generated message. This bot DID NOT nominate your file(s) for deletion; please refer to the page history of each individual file for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 03:00, 27 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
