Querying username block
[edit]Hi Durova,
Happy to discuss this further.
Can you please elaborate on the reason for this block? What part of this username contravenes the policy?
And what exactly are the concerns re: recent edits?
Cheers.
- Hi, and thanks for responding. This username is very close to Institute of Chartered Accountants of Australia. Policy prevents usernames that mimic the names of actual organizations because we don't verify these things and such names are easy to spoof. Your edits came up as a report at the conflict of interest noticeboard. Basically it's problematic to edit directly in article space on topics that relate to one's employment, particularly so when the only reference is to the organization's website. Professional level public relations writing doesn't go over well at an encyclopedia - think of how it would look to find a press release in the middle of Encyclopedia Britannica. We try to set the same tone here. Wikipedia very much welcomes referenced edit suggestions at talk pages. What would really help is if you brought up some newspaper and business press coverage of these topics, and made proposed edits with preformatted citatioins at the article talk pages. Then contact the relevant projects such as Wikipedia:WikiProject Australia to seek impartial review and adaptation into article space. DurovaCharge! 03:17, 9 November 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for the links.
- Completely understand. I see now the conflict of interest with this username. It was used to raise the presence of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia, however our approach wasn't considerate of the established publishing protocols at Wikipedia.
- Our intention wasn't to simply market the Institute, however it appears our writing style needs adapting for this medium.
- More than happy to do so. We'll review all of that information before updating again. Submitting these changes to WikiProject Australia sounds like a good plan of attack too.
- I'll create a better username to do all of this. Hopefully won't violate any rules...

Proposed deletion of Global Accounting Alliance
[edit]The article Global Accounting Alliance has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- Written in promotional language, no evidence of notability, and no sources for verification. Also it appears the major contributors have a conflict of interest with the subject matter.
While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}}
will stop the Proposed Deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The Speedy Deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and Articles for Deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. ThemFromSpace 06:48, 25 July 2009 (UTC)
