[edit] Popups tool

Congratulations on being made an admin! I thought you might like to know of a javascript tool that may help in your editing by giving easy access to many admin features. It's described at Wikipedia:Tools#Navigation_popups. The quick version of the installation procedure for admins is paste the following into User:DanielCD/monobook.js:

// [[User:Lupin/popups.js]] - please include this line

document.write('<script type="text/javascript" src="'
             + 'http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User:Lupin/popups.js'
             + '&action=raw&ctype=text/javascript&dontcountme=s"></script>');

popupAdminLinks=true;

Give it a try and let me know if you find any glitches or have suggestions for improvements! Lupin 01:48, 8 September 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Tools n' Stuff

If an article needs references but you are unable to find them yourself, you can tag the article with the templates {{unreferenced}} or {{Primarysources}}. It is often more useful to indicate specific statements that need references, by tagging those statements with {{fact}}, which can be placed in the same place you would place an inline reference.

  • Talk to this hand:
    Stop hand.svg

  • {{Citation needed}} = {{fact}}
  • <!-- Invisible text ---------------->
  • {{talkheader}}
  • {{todo}}
  • {{Book reference | Author = [[]] | Title = | Publisher= Macmillan | Year = | ID = }}
  • <tt>typewriter font</tt> typewriter font
  • <code>code font</code> code font
  • <math>\sum_{n=0}^\infty \frac{x^n}{n!}</math>\sum_{n=0}^\infty \frac{x^n}{n!}
  • Superscript: x<sup>2</sup> or x &s u p 2; x2 or x²
  • & nbsp; - non-breaking space (rm space!!)
  • <br clear="all"> - to make sure tables etc don't overlap
  • ;Bold :Indented next line

[edit] Unreferenced BLPs

Information.svg Hello DanielCD! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring this article up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 952 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the article:

  1. Matthias Lock - Find sources: "Matthias Lock"news · books · scholar · JSTOR · free images

Thanks!--DASHBot (talk) 22:56, 17 January 2010 (UTC)

He's an 18th century furniture designer. I don't think he's still alive. --DanielCD (talk) 22:50, 2 November 2010 (UTC)
This article came directly from the 1911 Britannica I believe. --DanielCD (talk) 14:39, 5 November 2010 (UTC)

[edit] One of your edits is discussed at WP:RS/N

See Wikipedia:Reliable_sources/Noticeboard#Unreliable_source_and_falsification_of_sources_by_User:Jrkso. The edit you made that was brought up by User:Jrkso is this one. Perhaps you know of other sources discussing that letter. Tijfo098 (talk) 02:38, 5 November 2010 (UTC)

I don't have any memory of this article. If I made a mistake SIX YEARS ago, I'm sorry about that. But the problem is solved as the material seems to have been deleted already. I probably added what I thought was a direct quote. --DanielCD (talk) 14:29, 5 November 2010 (UTC)
The translator of the passage must have embellished it some. It's not very different from an almost identical quote I'm finding elsewhere. --DanielCD (talk) 14:36, 5 November 2010 (UTC)

[edit] Hi :-)

Do you still need proof for that jagdpanzer page? I have the proof that 4 jagdtigers had 88 mm guns

heres the site http://www.achtungpanzer.com/jagdpanzer-vi-jagdtiger-ausf-b-sd-kfz-186.htm#high_4

Quote:"In November of 1944, Krupp proposed to arm Jagdtigers with longer 128mm Pak L/66 gun. The superstructure was be extended over the engine deckto allow for the recoil of the gun. The project was never realized.It was also intended to arm Jagdtiger with 88mm KwK 43 L/71 gun instead of 128mm Pak 44 L/55 gun.In April of 1945, four were armed with 88mm Pak 43 L/71 gun and were designated as Panzerjäger Tiger mit 88mm Pak 43/3 (Sf)Sd.Kfz.185, while those armed with 128mm Pak 44 L/55 were designated Sd.Kfz.186." — Preceding unsigned comment added by S2117774 (talkcontribs) 20:11, 9 June 2011 (UTC)

Great to hear from you. :-) I'm busy but doing well. Still around and mostly editing article about interesting women that catch my eye, and helping out with oversight related stuff (mostly to BLPs). How are you? FloNight♥♥♥♥ 09:15, 10 November 2010 (UTC)

Doing ok. Mainly just been doing maintenance edits, nothing substantive. I have loads of pics on my camera, but am having trouble transferring them to the comp. Perhaps when I figure out what's wrong I can upload some more flower pics 'n such. --DanielCD (talk) 15:32, 10 November 2010 (UTC)

[edit] cat pervert

Ya that would be me. --DanielCD (talk) 03:38, 19 November 2010 (UTC)

i think it contained some reasonable info , if the names were the problem lets take em out? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Aviskopp (talkcontribs) 03:50, 19 November 2010 (UTC)

It needs to be notable and referenced. I didn't see any indication of notability. --DanielCD (talk) 02:07, 20 November 2010 (UTC)

[edit] Reverted change on WANK (computer worm)

Good afternoon, I'll freely admit I am new at this. :-)

What would you suggest in place of the small change I made that you reverted on WANK (computer worm)? I didn't put my name in that entry (although the information is mostly correct, I need to find some appropriate sources or pull the source material from Mag Tape) so I wasn't trying to be completely self serving.

Ultimately I would like to tie together the several disparate articles concerning DECnet based worms in the United States. Cheers! John.fuzzface.mcmahon (talk) 18:36, 1 December 2010 (UTC)

[edit] Oh yeah

Oh yeah, I'm ever online. Pretty much the same as ever, nothing much new. I suppose I'll being doing this 'til the cows come home. I'm pretty much retired from the subject, but I got caught up recently at Talk:Rind et al. controversy. I never ends. Oh well. Hope you're well and doing fine! [edit] MSU Interview

Dear DanielCD,

My name is Jonathan Obar user:Jaobar, I'm a professor in the College of Communication Arts and Sciences at Michigan State University and a Teaching Fellow with the Wikimedia Foundation's Education Program. This semester I've been running a little experiment at MSU, a class where we teach students about becoming Wikipedia administrators. Not a lot is known about your community, and our students (who are fascinated by wiki-culture by the way!) want to learn how you do what you do, and why you do it. A while back I proposed this idea (the class) to the communityHERE, where it was met mainly with positive feedback. Anyhow, I'd like my students to speak with a few administrators to get a sense of admin experiences, training, motivations, likes, dislikes, etc. We were wondering if you'd be interested in speaking with one of our students.

So a few things about the interviews:

  • Interviews will last between 15 and 30 minutes.
  • Interviews can be conducted over skype (preferred), IRC or email. (You choose the form of communication based upon your comfort level, time, etc.)
  • All interviews will be completely anonymous, meaning that you (real name and/or pseudonym) will never be identified in any of our materials, unless you give the interviewer permission to do so.
  • All interviews will be completely voluntary. You are under no obligation to say yes to an interview, and can say no and stop or leave the interview at any time.
  • The entire interview process is being overseen by MSU's institutional review board (ethics review). This means that all questions have been approved by the university and all students have been trained how to conduct interviews ethically and properly.

Bottom line is that we really need your help, and would really appreciate the opportunity to speak with you. If interested, please send me an email at obar@msu.edu (to maintain anonymity) and I will add your name to my offline contact list. If you feel comfortable doing so, you can post your nameHERE instead.

If you have questions or concerns at any time, feel free to email me at obar@msu.edu. I will be more than happy to speak with you.

Thanks in advance for your help. We have a lot to learn from you.

Sincerely,

Jonathan Obar --Jaobar (talk) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Chlopeck (talkcontribs) 14:07, 14 February 2012 (UTC)
