Can you please help me?

According to the message displayed on screen, it says: "Please include 'sock of permabanned user' when requesting an unblock as an administrator can not help you without that information." Can someone please fix this? I am unable to edit. Thank you. David Shield 19:58, 10 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Autoblock on IP (Sysop Needed)[edit]

Unfortunately no, only an admin would be able to help. You have been caught by an autoblock on the IP of a former wikipedian who was banned for legal threats and disruption. The autoblocks get anybody else who edits from the same IP. The admin who responds to your unblock request will probably be able to tell you who the banned user was. Thank you for trying. Can you contact an administrator for me please, every time I try to leave a note on their page asking for help, it gives me the same message that I quoted directly above. David Shield 20:38, 10 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You should wait until your block is over...If it is longer than 3 days I will post to an admin's talk page who I know will help me as I know him from editing with him. ForestH2

Excuse me? Why was I even blocked to begin with?? David Shield 22:44, 10 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Well...who's blocked you? ForestH2

It says that Danny has blocked me and that I am a "sock of permabanned user". Any help with this would be appreciated. David Shield 22:52, 10 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Talked to him on his talk page....— Preceding unsigned comment added by ForestH2 (talkcontribs)

It's unlikely that you will be able to find an admin who would over-rule Danny. A 'permablock' could be the result of legal threats or other serious violations of wikipedia policy. Suggest you find out who else has been using that IP to edit here and discuss the situation with them. They will know why they were banned. If it was for legal threats, the block can usually be lifted if the banned user explicitly retracts them. — Preceding unsigned comment added by MilesVorkosigan (talkcontribs)

Well this is pretty obviously a mistake, I wish no ill-will or lawsuits upon anyone. David Shield 23:24, 10 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I would unblock if I was an admin... Obviously it's a mistake. ForestH2

Hello David. I'm sorry you appear to have been blocked by a permablock of a previous user of your IP. I cannot unblock you myself, but it may help if you explain your situation on in your unblock request. instead of just using the {{unblock}} tag, follow the "unblock" text with with a pipe "|" then briefly explain the problem: "{{unblock|reason}}" . This may encourage an administrator to look into your case quicker. I'm going to remove the "help me" tag now, as helpers will not be able to solve your problem until an Admin gets on the case (which should hopefully be soon). Unblock request denied[edit]

I'm one of the people who tried to help User:WBardwin who was hit by upwards of 100 autoblocks (!) yesterday as a result of Danny's block of David Shields. I'm sure David Shields got autoblocks also; but this account is the subject of the original indefinite block. This is the one account that Danny deliberately blocked.[1] Admins, don't unblock this unless you know something I don't. Unblock request denied. Bishonen | talk 08:56, 11 May 2006 (UTC).[reply]

Yes I was autoblocked yesterday, but this block still has not been explained to me. I am not a "sock of permabanned user" and am politely requesting that this be carefully reviewed. David Shield 21:29, 11 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

David, since this isn't a question of the autoblocks but of Danny's original block and his reasons for it, you need to discuss the problem with Danny. I see that you haven't specified a valid e-mail address for your own account; unfortunately this means that you can't use the "E-mail this user" (left-hand sidebar) feature to e-mail other people, either. I've just e-mailed Danny myself, and asked him to get in touch with you; I'm afraid that's the best I can do. Sorry. Bishonen | talk 21:52, 11 May 2006 (UTC).[reply]

David, if you are so insistent, I would advise you to call the office tomorrow and discuss it with me. Danny 21:59, 11 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Meanwhile, this block has been reviewed, and I'm removing the {{unblock}} template yet again. Do not put it back again, or I'll protect the page against editing. Bishonen | talk 23:01, 11 May 2006 (UTC).[reply]
