Categories[edit]

By policy (which you may read here), most categories are reserved for articles in the main article space. Articles that are in the user space (whose names begin with "User:") are not allowed to have those categories. No "user" article is allowed to have those categories. I refer to that policy when I remove those categories. See Wikipedia:User categories for policy on categories for user articles, and see Category:Wikipedians for categories that are appropriate for user pages.

Also, it is not appropriate to redirect your main talk page to another article; it makes it difficult for other editors to communicate with you.

I would also suggest you take a look at WP:NOT. Studerby (talk) 09:08, 23 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Also, you should read Wikipedia:UP, particularly Wikipedia:UP#NOT. Studerby (talk) 09:16, 23 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

More comments[edit]

  1. You need to learn to sign your comments on other user's talk pages; you do this by putting 4 tildes - "~~~~" - at the end of the comment.
  2. People insert policy violations into Wikipedia articles all the time; there is a constant flux of errors and corrections. I am only one of many editors who remove mainspace categories from userspace articles. That we have not fixed 100% of all errors in the Wikipedia at any particular time is not a very good argument to allow more errors.
  3. There are a great many policies and additional resources for editors; if you're here to edit the Wikipedia, I suggest you review them. I'll give you some starter links. If not, perhaps you should put your promotional material on another site, such as MySpace. Studerby (talk) 05:00, 24 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
