Managing a conflict of interest[edit]

Thank you for your message.

So, are you saying that I may not add citations into Wiki about technical papers that I wrote and I may ONLY cite other people's papers?

2. If I add technical content, based on my own knowledge and experience and then add a citation to technical papers that I had previously published, is that also not allowed? Thus - I can add the content, but OTHERS need to add other citations to other technical papers to confirm my technical content that I added?

1) It would be best to cite others. If you need to cite yourself for some reason, propose the source on the talk page rather than making the edit yourself.

2) You should not add content based on your own knowledge and experience (see WP:V).

As a subject matter expert, you are no doubt familiar with a wide range of sources of diverse authorship, please make use of that knowledge to edit in accord with Wikipedia's norms and practices. Thanks. - MrOllie (talk) 17:29, 13 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. You are correct. You do not cite your own work. The problem is that it is hard to be objective about your own work. However, there a work around. You open a talk page discussion. Reveal that you suggest that a citation to your own work would be helpful and then request that some other editor add the material.
