Introduction[edit]

Hi Graham, Thanks for introducing yourself on my talk page. I started the Biotech program this past summer. It's been exciting and challenging so far and don't see that changing. I'm looking forward to working with you. I worked for a year in molecular infectious disease at Quest before moving to molecular oncology, so I know a little about the infectious disease world. Hey Sean- Summer was my first semester too. I had biochem and social entrepreneurship in bioscience. It's been about 15 years since my undergrad so it was an adjustment getting back into things particularly with everything online! It's pretty neat though. Having a program that I can take while still working full time is huge for me. I just wish I could actually see the campus. I might just have to fly out for graduation! Hey Graham, Sounds like you must be an old timer like me. I finished undergrad in 1997. I took an on-line class from a local community college here last year in immunology to complete a work requirement, but it was not quite the level of this. At least as far as the Montgomery County campus, you aren't missing much. Though, it is in a pretty impressive location with places like The J. Craig Venter Institute, the brand new National Cancer Institute buildings, and a ton of biotech companies all within a stone's throw. Seanmcaruthers (talk) 18:52, 29 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hello again Sean. I am indeed an old timer, finished my undergrad in 1997 as well. While the weather and cost of living is great in AZ we unfortunately don't have much in the way of biotech. Phoenix has been trying to encourage companies to come here, but without much luck so far. I did do a one year grad certificate program about 5 years ago in epidemiology, so there was some online posting, but the classes were mostly classroom. I'm liking this online thing more and more as I get used to it. Having the flexibility for scheduling class time is awesome! Grabriggs (talk) 05:40, 1 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
