From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

You should wait for others to write an article about subjects in which you are personally involved. This applies to articles about you, your achievements, your band, your business, your publications, your website, your relatives, and any other possible conflict of interest.

Creating an article about yourself is strongly discouraged. If you create such an article, it might be listed on articles for deletion. Deletion is not certain, but many feel strongly that you should not start articles about yourself. This is because independent creation encourages independent validation of both significance and verifiability. All edits to articles must conform to Wikipedia:No original research, Wikipedia:Neutral point of view, and Wikipedia:Verifiability.

If you are not "notable" under Wikipedia guidelines, creating an article about yourself may violate the policy that Wikipedia is not a personal webspace provider and would thus qualify for speedy deletion. If your achievements, etc., are verifiable and genuinely notable, and thus suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia, someone else will probably create an article about you sooner or later. (See Wikipedia:Wikipedians with articles.) Thank you. 98.248.33.198 (talk) 03:47, 20 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Dude, seriously, you need to stop editing the article about yourself, at least until you review the policies on conflict of interest, reliable sources and NPOV. 98.248.33.198 (talk) 04:20, 20 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

{{adminhelp}}

Hello, We are in need of administrative assistance. As a friend of Jon Butcher himself, I've been given the opportunity to edit his official page here. As instructed by wikipedia, I've put in my subject line adminhelp. TY

  • When you leave messages, please remember to "sign" your name, by putting ~~~~ (four tilde signs) at the end. This will add your name, and the date and time. You can also do this by clicking the 'sign' button, pictured here.
Hi there. Of course, it depends on your question, but it's likely that you don't actually need an administrator; a normal {{helpme}} is fine for almost all questions, except when you need a page deleting (or undeleting), protecting (or unprotecting), or regarding account blocking.
With respect to editing an article about a friend, please take the time to read about conflict of interest, and best practice in these cases.
Wikipedia is extra-careful about biographic articles, so if there is any information (particularly negative information) that lacks an appropriate reliable source, let us know and we will remove it immediately.
Note that I have also responded to the questions from Mr. Butcher, see User_talk:Buckandthor#RE: Jon Butcher Wiki page- help !.
Please ask a specific question below, with a {{helpme}}, or talk to us live, with this or this.

This is to clarify and explain some matters relating to the Jon Butcher article.

  1. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia that anyone can edit and your message on Chzz's talk page is a bit too hostile. Chzz has the right to remove certain edits on the article deemed against WP:COI and without proper references.
  2. Editing on an article that you might have a potential conflict of interest in is strongly discourage in Wikipedia. Articles on Wikipedia should maintain a neutral point of view and where advancing outside interests is more important to an editor than advancing the aims of Wikipedia, that editor stands in a conflict of interest. You might like to read here for more information on editing articles of someone closely related to you. If you feel that certain edits need to be made to this article, please submit those proposed edits for review on the article's talk page and tag your post with a {{Request edit}} tag.
  3. One of the reasons why Chzz removed certain of your edits was because there was no references. Wikipedia's biographies of living persons must adhere strictly to these 3 policies

Material of a living person that is unsourced or poorly sourced will be removed immediately and without discussion.

Hence, I hope that my explanation would clarify things for you and if you have any questions, please get back to me. In the meantime, I would not encourage you to continue making edits in the Jon Butcher article, mainly for the reasons I stated above. Thanks! BejinhanTalk 06:35, 19 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
