Image:ToryMason.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:ToryMason.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the image description page and edit it to add
{{Replaceable fair use disputed}}
, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template. - On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. MECU≈talk 21:17, 23 December 2006 (UTC)
Don't be discouraged
[edit]I certainly hope that you haven't given up on contributing to Wikipedia. You should go take a look at the Tory Mason article now, and the discussion about keeping or deleting it at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Tory Mason. After some additional research and copyediting, I am reversing my comments on the article's talk page; I think it should be retained. Please monitor the discussion and don't just walk away from further contributions. Thanks.—Chidom talk 03:26, 29 December 2006 (UTC)
Tory Mason AfD
[edit]You might want to put in your vote to keep the Tory Mason page on the Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Tory_Mason page. Although it is meant to be a discussion, most of the editors weigh heavily on the vote count. Also include your thoughts as to why Tory Mason is a notable performer if you can. -Todd(Talk-Contribs) 09:28, 29 December 2006 (UTC)
Suggestions on this AFD
[edit]- I would suggest you 'spam' contact a message to those voting early on your AFD to 'reconsider their vote per the arguments put forth by User:Chidom. Just put together a nice message in your cut buffer, and navigate to the pages of those voting Delete with a polite question like
- Would you please reconsider your vote on this AFD taking note of the timeline, WP:BITE and the fact the article complies with WP:BIO. Thanks, I would appreciate it. ~~~~
TIP: When doing such, I usually have a title line in my boilerplate That I Just cut in using the '+' add to talk page bottom, cut that up into the section title field with a Ctrl-X, then Ctrl-A Ctrl-C to recapture the boilerplate (all on windows, MACs use the apple key, similar capability on Unix too), finishing with highlighting the 'title line' and dispose of that with a backspace. I'd guess such posts average a mere 20 seconds or so per post, once you get the mechanics of the repetition down.
- Would you please reconsider your vote on this AFD taking note of the timeline, WP:BITE and the fact the article complies with WP:BIO. Thanks, I would appreciate it. ~~~~
- In the meantime, Copy your draft to a user page 'sandbox', where it is inviolate (no one can touch it 'without good cause'. You can keep many such, for example, see the mess <g> at User:Fabartus/temp2... note the navigation box and links to others. If the AFD fails on time, you can also take advantage of the appeals process.
The best argument for keeping such is to continue to upgrade the article and expand it's reference aggressively. Even if it disappears before you can copy it, you can request the deleting admin to drop a copy on your user space after the fact. As above, just ask whatever! Best wishes, and have a happy new year. // FrankB 23:15, 1 January 2007 (UTC)
Unspecified source for Image:ToryMason.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:ToryMason.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.
As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 22:23, 12 February 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Ytny (talk) 22:23, 12 February 2007 (UTC)
