Multiple unexplained moves[edit]

Hi. I notice that a high percentage of your edits and other actions involve moving Luas stop articles from "XXXX Luas stop" to "XXXX tram stop". In almost every case without any explanation. Given that WP:COMMONNAME is what typically determines the title of an article (and more than a few references refer to these types of subjects as, for example, "Broombridge and Dominic Luas Stops, and [..] Sandyford/Brides Glen Luas Stops"), can you explain the rationale for these changes? I ask, in particular, as many of your changes have required additional DAB suffixes and the like. Given that you have not explained a high-percentage of your edits/changes at the time, can you consider advising which of the typical reasons for moving an article/title apply in these cases? Ideally, perhaps, before moving more articles. As such undiscussed/unexplained moves could reasonably be undone by another editor. If needed, perhaps open a thread at Talk:Luas. Or Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Ireland. Or another place where other connected/interested editors can contribute. Thanks. Guliolopez (talk) 19:37, 21 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Well I felt like it would make sense to move them to tram stop because it seems to make sense. Tram stops are usually labelled as tram stop in Wikipedia. As for the reason I didn’t specify, it would have been tiring to type the same sentence over and over. Yeah I could have just copied and pasted? But then again I had to do the same thing for the word tram.
I apologise for changing them abruptly. I should have asked someone before. I did ask on Sandyford’s article regarding its name as the former Stillorgan station, but I don’t remember getting a response. I think Luas stop could also work as their titles. We could revert them if you guys think it would make sense. Thanks for your input. JoshuaW56 (talk) 20:40, 23 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Here’s the thread I made. Luas or tram? share your thoughts. JoshuaW56 (talk) 11:36, 24 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from Carrickmines Castle into Carrickmines. While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content, disclosing the copying and linking to the copied page, e.g., copied content from [[page name]]; see that page's history for attribution. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination. Please provide attribution for this duplication if it has not already been supplied by another editor, and if you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, you should provide attribution for that also. Thank you for informing me about it. Unfortunately I am not quite able to figure out how to incorporate the copied template into the article so I suggest you have a read of my latest edit and either try and fix it up for me or share your feedback. Thanks a mill.

If used, the {{copied}} template goes on the talk page like I did here. The template is optional. The edit summary is mandatory. — Diannaa (talk) 02:10, 11 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

MetroLink route template[edit]

Hi. The MetroLink route template is speculative. It is just about justifiable in the "proposed/possible routes" section(s) of the MetroLink article. Where it is clear, not least from context, that it describes a speculative route. It is misplaced (and potentially misleading and perhaps even misrepresentative) in, for example, the St Stephen's Green station article. Where it is less clear that no such service/route exists (and may not exist - or not as planned). Consider, for example, that (in 2010) the same article happily declared that St Stephen's Green would have a "Dublin Metro" station by 2013. And a DART Underground station by 2015. Both speculative claims (made without much qualification and which significant hubris) have not occurred. Please let's learn the lessons of past errors. And from the WP:SPECULATION guideline. Thanks. Guliolopez (talk) 21:35, 19 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry about that. Since we recently got confirmation of where exactly the stations will be, I felt like we’re were close to seeing it start construction.
Btw, is it too soon to change Charlemont Luas stop to station? JoshuaW56 (talk) 00:26, 20 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi. Thanks. However, and just to note, "confirmation of where exactly the stations will be" is in the same ballpark as the thinking that resulted in the type of additions we had before. Like confident declarations about a DART Underground station at Christ Church Cathedral (with additional Luas platforms for non-existent Luas lines). All of which described something that "will" definitely happen. ("will be one of five new underground facilities", "will be located next to Christ Church", and "will be the only new station on the route not to connect with [..the..] Metro". Etc). Work on the MetroLink is unlikely to start for at least another year or so. And, even if it starts as planned and construction follows the proposed timelines then (even "all going well") won't be completed for another decade or more. Some time after 2035. Earliest. A lot can happen in 10 to 15 years. Including changes to "where exactly the stations will be". Please do consider the mistakes (including on confidence or "confirmation" or planned/proposed developments) made by other editors in the past.... Guliolopez (talk) 11:59, 20 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
PS. Yes. It is far too soon to move the Charlemont Luas stop to any other title. Far far too soon... Guliolopez (talk) 19:54, 20 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
