Hi, I'm surprised at your closure of this DRV. How can a discussion consisting of two people (Uanfala, Thryduulf) versus one (Hut 8.5) amount to the consensus that is required to overturn an AfD closure? I'm also surprised that you did not attempt to assess consensus in your closure, but merely expressed your view about which argument is the most persuasive - something that is not pertinent to a DRV closure, and suggests a "supervote". Sandstein 18:40, 31 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The default state of affairs is for article history to remain up unless a compelling reason is given for it not to. For any article deleted for notability concerns, where the closing admin does not note that the content is problematic and it is not obvious from the AfD that there is such a consensus, anyone could have subsequently asked for userfication/draftification of the history, and any admin would have been well within their rights to grant it unilaterally. -- King of ♥ 20:08, 31 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
That still does not address the lack of consensus to overturn the AfD closure. The default state of affairs is for a closure to be endorsed absent consensus to overturn it. Sandstein 20:31, 31 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
"Redirect" and "delete as non-notable" are the same result, with the only difference being that there is a suitable target in the former case. Here a suitable target was found, and the history was summarily restored underneath it; there is nothing to overturn. If you didn't want the history to be restored, you should have made that more clear in your closing statement. Otherwise, it will be assumed that the only reason for not going with WP:ATD is for lack of a suitable target, and once a suitable target is found then ATD applies. -- King of ♥ 22:52, 31 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
To clarify, is your reasoning based on WP:ATD-R (Redirection) being preferred over deletion? Flatscan (talk) 04:25, 1 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, and any !votes for "delete" should be considered to implicitly support "redirect" given a suitable target unless they contain a rationale for why the history needs to be erased. Or even the lone "Delete and Redirect" !vote in the AfD - as far as whether to delete the article history is concerned, it can be considered to be WP:JUSTAVOTE since it did not advance an argument for suppression. -- King of ♥ 06:56, 1 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I agree with Sandstein: this DRV outcome is an overturn of the AfD result and should be denoted as such. I also do not see a consensus to overturn. This disagreement reminds me of WP:Administrators' noticeboard/Archive331#Review of DRV closures by King of Hearts last year, although I did not remember that Sandstein filed it. User talk:King of Hearts/Archive/2021/03#Wikipedia:Deletion review/Log/2021 February 27#Squad (app), which preceded it, is similar too. Flatscan (talk) 04:25, 1 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
And I will note that while that discussion found some faults with the way I handled things/articulated my rationale, it ultimately concluded that the actual result was not wrong. Again, an article deleted for reasons not related to its content being unsuitable for public view can always be userfied by any admin on request. Therefore, if the history can live in user or draft space, then is there anything prohibiting it from living under a redirect? -- King of ♥ 06:56, 1 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I've asked the community to review this matter at WP:AN#Continued out-of-process DRV closures by King of Hearts. Sandstein 06:57, 2 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
