May 2012[edit]

Hello Ladyzaib. We welcome your contributions to Wikipedia, but if you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article Mohammad Iqbal Khan, you may have a conflict of interest or close connection to the subject.

All editors are required to comply with Wikipedia's neutral point of view content policy. People who are very close to a subject often have a distorted view of it, which may cause them to inadvertently edit in ways that make the article either too flattering or too disparaging. People with a close connection to a subject are not absolutely prohibited from editing about that subject, but they need to be especially careful about ensuring their edits are verified by reliable sources and writing with as little bias as possible.

If you are very close to a subject, here are some ways you can reduce the risk of problems:

  • Avoid or exercise great caution when editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with.
  • Be cautious about deletion discussions. Everyone is welcome to provide information about independent sources in deletion discussions, but avoid advocating for deletion of articles about your competitors.
  • Avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).
  • Exercise great caution so that you do not accidentally breach Wikipedia's content policies.

Please familiarize yourself with relevant content policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Thank you. Your recent editing history at Mohammad Iqbal Khan shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. Being involved in an edit war can result in your being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly.

To avoid being blocked, instead of reverting please consider using the article's talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. See BRD for how this is done. You can post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection. QU TalkQu 21:21, 22 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. This message is being sent to inform you that there is currently a discussion involving you at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Edit warring regarding a possible violation of Wikipedia's policy on edit warring. Thank you.

Your recent edits[edit]

Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You could also click on the signature button or located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when they said it. Thank you. --SineBot (talk) 21:48, 22 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

You have been blocked temporarily from editing for abuse of editing privileges. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make useful contributions. If you would like to be unblocked, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first.

Request reason:

Materialscientist I was not trying to do anything but just upload a nice picture for the article that we thought his fans would like to see, we do own the image and can produce proof but thats all i was trying to do is put a pic up under his name but it kept getting deleted now if I knew the reason why then i can make ammendments and learn from this Ladyzaib (talk) 10:49, 23 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

In the long run, copyright is a law. Edit-warring is a policy. Don't break either (talk→ BWilkins ←track) 11:13, 23 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

You say "if I knew the reason", but you have had messages explaining the situation with respect to conflict of interest and edit warring, and ignored them. Wikipedia does not exist for people to post their own preferred account of themselves, or to get others to do so on their behalf. You do not own the article, and have no right to control what can be in it. Far from your status as Mohammed Iqbal Khan's "official" representative giving you greater rights over the article than other Wikipedia editors, it gives you less rights, as you have a conflict of interest. In addition, repeatedly reverting an article to your preferred version ("edit warring") is unacceptable, even if you are convinced that you are "right". You have ignored the advice above on how to proceed, and made no attempt to discuss your edits, but have merely tried to use what you perceive as your ownership of the article to force your opinion through. If that were the whole story, it would simply justify the decline of your unblock request. However, there is another problem: you have repeatedly referred to yourselves as "the official team". A Wikipedia account is for an individual, and must not represent, or be used collectively by, a group, and this account clearly infringes that policy. I am therefore extending the block to indefinite. JamesBWatson (talk) 11:28, 23 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi (talk) james i honestly swear that I did not know that was the reason, I thought someone was trying to be malicious and remove it and when i said official iwas just trying to reassure that i was not messing around and was genuinely updating, I am new to this by saying official team i was trying to reassure that we were genuinely updating and not using anything that would violate, I am new to this and am learning the whole wikepedia updating and how to update articles no I do not own it to be honest If i am guilty then it is one thing of not knowing and we all have started at a point when you do not know how things work, and for the life of my i could not figure why the images kept on getting deleted...well I am sorry if it came across as trying to be arrogant but i was simply trying to convince that I was authorised to upload the photos to be used by everybody. anyways thanks please where do I find the messages that tell us that the reason the images are removed? As I was trying to revert the article i was just trying to upload the image correctly first few attemps kept thinking i was coding it wrong...yes i am novice at this am learning but i suppose i messed up royally and I am the only one with this account who uses it...anyways thanks I did not mean to offend anyone I seriously thought that the editors thought we were vandalizing hence the reassurance that its an honest update not someone messing about. — Preceding — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ladyzaib (talkcontribs) 12:59, 23 May 2012‎

You ask "where do I find the messages that tell us that the reason the images are removed?" There are four messages about copyright infringement on your wikimedia commons talk page. It would be surprising if you had continually failed to notice the prominent orange "You have new messages" banner each time you edited on commons. However, your copyright infringements on Wikimedia commons are not the reason for your block on English Wikipedia. You may read all about the reasons above, and you will note that you were given clear warning about edit warring and about conflict of interest, including being told "if you represent an official group then stay away from the page please" and "Being involved in an edit war can result in your being blocked from editing"
If you still want to be unblocked, I suggest you (a) assure us that the account will be used only by one person, (b) indicate that you are aware of the conflict of interest question, and will keep away from any editing where that may be an issue (which almost certainly means not editing about Mohammad Iqbal Khan, since you tell us you are his "official PA"), (c) undertake not to edit war, but to discuss any disagreement, with a view to trying to reach agreement, and (d) indicate clearly that you are aware that you do not have any more rights than any other Wikipedia editor, and cannot dictate what content is included if others disagree with you. No more messages such as "this is the official PA of Mohammed Iqbal Khan can you please kindly stop removing our image from Iqbal Khan profile otherwise I will be forced to report you", "Can you kindly do not edit and remove the Mohammed Iqbal Khan images, we are the official team and are managing the page please do not do mischief find other pages to mess around thank you www.miqbalkhan.com", "this user keeps removing the image we are the official team and is creating mischief on our page" (my emphasis).
