WUO[edit]

Hey, good job on all the articles for WUO members, I was kinda wondering when someone (what? not me?) was gonna write those. For some reason I've been really curious about John Jacobs, as there seems to be almost no info out there about him. Maybe you've got him on your list? Ok, well, keep the good stuff coming, and don't be afraid of all the criticism that gets slung around here. Feel free to ask for any help. Cheers! Awesome, hope you enjoy it around here, and Washington for that matter! Murderbike (talk) 01:16, 26 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Removal of cited material[edit]

Hey, I'd like to let you know that you just removed cited material from Jane Alpert, which is unacceptable without reaching consensus on the article's talk page. If you have issues with cited material that is in the article, take the issues to the article's talk page, and discuss it with other editors. Thank you. No problem, I understand that you're new. However, even a well intentioned removal of material that may be unimportant, should go through discussion if the material is cited. That's just kind of how things work around here. There's a heck of a lot of rules/guidelines around here that make everything function smoothly, it takes a long to figure them all out, and making mistakes is one of the best ways to find out about these things! Anyway, don't sweat it too much, but remember that talk pages are a great place for working with other editors on an article, discussing issues instead of things just going back and forth between versions without anybody knowing why things are changing so much. Again, feel free to ask if you have questions. Cheers! Murderbike (talk) 05:49, 29 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
There are definitely different rules/guidelines for living people. See WP:BLP for that. With an article like this one, there's been quite a bit of activity lately, so it shouldn't take too long for people to respond to questions about an issue (like removing some info or whatever). And really, if noone responds after a little while, then just change it, and make sure to put a good edit summary (something other than "revert edits by..." or "Undid revision by...") so people can know why you're doing something. Adding a note on a talk page certainly helps to, just something like "Oh, I removed such and such material because of such and such, if anyone has a problem with it, let's discuss it!"
