Please stop adding Image:Dcc Seal.jpg to {{User DCC}}. The use of fair use images outside of the main article space is not permitted by Wikipedia policy. Edits to Dallas Christian College article

You are to be commended for your efforts to turn the DCC article from a stub into a real article. I made several edits in the last 24 hours that are intended to encourage a style more in keeping with Wikipedia's efforts for a neutral point of view. As such, I had to take out the "Staff" and "Atmosphere" segments because I really couldn't find any part of them that fit with that model; they would make excellent contributions to, say, a message board for high-school seniors trying to choose a college, or on promotional materials for your school. (By the way, they're not vanished from all existence; you can still see them by clicking the "history" tab at the top of the DCC page.)

Here are a few examples of articles for religious schools that are more standard, as a guide. The articles include some schools that are far older and larger (and thus, it's easier to find neutral things to write about them), but I think they will help you get the idea. Notice that LeTourneau actually has a smaller enrollment than DCC, yet the article is quite extensive.

Baylor University
McMurry University
Howard Payne University
LeTourneau University
Lubbock Christian University -- there's a lot to be desired in this article (as mentioned in the Talk page I started for it), but I think it's still an example of how a sketchy article can be along the lines of what Wikipedia is intended to include, vs. personal comments on the finer qualities of the school.

Restoration of Talk page

I can see removing my message about what you did on the DCC article. After all, due to your apparent earlier blanking of your entire talk page, when I first saw your empty Talk page, I naturally assumed you were a newer user than you are. However, one of the messages on here was a type of warning -- albeit probably unofficial -- and it's considered inappropriate, at best, to delete such a message. After hunting a bit, I found this advice at Wikipedia:Talk_pages:

Etiquette

Most users treat their user talk pages like regular talk pages, and archive the contents periodically to a personal subpage — either when the page gets too large, on a regular schedule, or when they take a wikivacation. Others delete comments after they have responded to them. Actively erasing non-harassing personal messages without replying (if a reply would be appropriate or polite) will probably be interpreted as hostile.

Frankly, that impression of hostility was my first reaction upon realizing you'd blanked this whole talk page after I'd worked very carefully to provide helpful suggestions for improving an article that has obvious importance for you. While there's nothing to stop you from deleting this whole page again, I hope you won't do so. You can always ignore the comments that do not interest you. Lawikitejana 08:24, 22 August 2006 (UTC)

Sorry just a little ignorant

I blanked it out my talk page habitually I like to always have a clean sate. I do the same thing with emails, text messages, etc...

I did not in anyway intend for it to be taken badly I fully read your message and took it into account. I also fully understand your point. I am sorry if I appeared rude or pretentious. I just was acting on habit.

I was unaware that doing such could be taken badly, and I also did not realize that it was considered bad etiquette. If I knew this, I would have never done it in the first place.

The idea that I would do such a thing knowing that it was a bad thing is asinine. I am for building community, not knowingly breaking it.

Finally, I would like to thank you for letting me know of this fact I simply was ignorant to this fact, and without you telling me, I may never have known.

Thanks for your note! I'm glad you understand, and I'm glad to know that you just didn't realize how the deletion is perceived. That makes a lot of sense. It's taking me a while to learn how the community aspect of Wikipedia works, as well. It just goes to show what people here say about assuming "good faith" when people make edits. No need to assume they meant anything by it.

Didn't want to think that I was being cavalier in reverting your rearrangement of the BJU page. There's a good argument for what you did, but I think there's a better one for leaving it as it was. For one thing, BJU Press employs more people than the University, and the BJU Museum & Gallery is a remarkable collection but little known except to art connoiseurs. AFD: Texas Baptist College

Greetings! (And congrats on figuring out how to archive your page -- someday maybe I'll have enough comments to need to learn to do that myself. :)

I checked out the Texas Baptist College article and the articles-for-deletion discussion about it. At first, I was with you entirely, but as I investigated, I did start to see their point. The article now is substantial, but still doesn't exactly have outside sources. I agree with you that there's potential for such an article to be useful, and that whether the school is accredited or not doesn't determine its notability. The problem seems to be that unlike the case of Hyles-Anderson College, there aren't really unbiased outside sources to go to for our information — those of us doing online searches don't find newspaper articles on the subject, for example, and while there are many, many blog and forum posts about it, those don't meet the standard of reliable sources. I did post to the AFD page that the Amazon comments seem to suggest that the Spurgeon book is about TBC as well as about Longview Baptist Temple, but again, since none of us have read it and we have only Amazon user comments to go on, it's too soon to tell.

I'd hate to see the article have to bite the dust, if only because it could alert potential students to the possible existence of a problem. Without verifiable sources, though, we have a huge problem in creating a defensible article. Lawikitejana 09:27, 11 October 2006 (UTC)

Hi. I noticed you cut-and-pasted {{Infobox School2}} to {{Infobox boarding school}}. I'm not sure that was what you meant to do, and I don't really understand why "boarding school" would be a more appropriate name for the template. US-Airports discussion

Thanks for the note about first discussing edits to pages. I'm a newbie and probably deserve a fwap for not "getting it" on the first edit. I added my thoughts about why MyMetar weather should be added to the US-Airports template. Happy to answer any questions about how the service works.

I know the FlightAware and AirNav guys, and don't see the service provided by MyMetar as much different than either one, except those sites have other revenue streams beyond simply ad revenue (commercial sales of data by FlightAware, premium subscriptions, fee based listings on AirNav, etc.). MyMetar does not charge for access - it is gratis to pilots.
