Nomination of The Realm Online, A History for deletion[edit]

A discussion has begun about whether the article The Realm Online, A History, which you created or to which you contributed, should be deleted. Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you must sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You may also click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. What we do and don't do here[edit]

You've got to keep in mind that Wikipedia is a general reference work, and thus is not necessarily the best place for material excessively specific to a particular topic (which is why there are separate wikis for Star Trek and hundreds of other topics). Such excessively-detailed material ("Famous Bloopers in Saved By The Bell") is known genericly as "fancruft". Additionally (and this part is not negotiable) we only compile information which has already been published elsewhere; so original research and information from primary sources generally has no place here. What I said to Gary Gygax in 1984 that led to me being published in Dragon magazine may be true, but it's not encyclopedic content; so if I incorporated it into a history of "Treatment of the Tarot in Role-Playing Games", neither the history nor my recollections would be appropriate content for Wikipedia. --Orange Mike | Talk 14:27, 16 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
