Eurostar article

Hello there, I've been looking for someone active and interested in trains (as I can see in your talk page and your affiliation with WikiProject Trains, you seem to be!) to ask them if they would take a look over the Eurostar article. Current evaluations of the page are years out of date, and myself and a few other editors have overhauled the article somewhat, perticularly in referencing. I wondered if you could take a look on it, make a few reflections on what is good and what sucks from your perspective, so that we'd have up to date aims and objectives from which to hone further efforts upon. Thank you for reading this. 81.111.115.63 (talk) 20:28, 6 May 2009 (UTC)

Wrong decimal marker

See User talk:Jorge MG & Talk:RFFSA#Wrong decimal marker & RFFSA#Present day Brazilian railway companies This section originally had the wrong decimal marker, i.e. the comma. I have since corrected this by using 1,000 mm (3 ft 3⅜ in) & 1,600 mm (5 ft 3 in) etc. Some translators can be careless.

A common problem in many German railway articles, see item #77 below. Peter Horn 21:34, 6 May 2009 (UTC)

FAR of BC Rail

I have nominated BC Rail for a featured article review here. Please join the discussion on whether this article meets featured article criteria. Articles are typically reviewed for two weeks. If substantial concerns are not addressed during the review period, the article will be moved to the Featured Article Removal Candidates list for a further period, where editors may declare "Keep" or "Remove" the article's featured status. The instructions for the review process are here. Arsenikk (talk) 12:26, 7 May 2009 (UTC)

Dear uploader: The media file you uploaded as File:Pioneer Zephyr first run and millionth mile covers.jpg is missing a description and/or other details on its image description page. If possible, please add this information. This will help other editors to make better use of the image, and it will be more informative for readers. If you have any questions please see Help:Image page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 13:38, 7 May 2009 (UTC)

GA Sweeps invitation

Hello, I hope you are doing well. I am sending you this message since you are a member of the GA WikiProject. I would like to invite you to consider helping with the GA sweeps process. Sweeps helps to ensure that the oldest GAs still meet the criteria, and improve the quality of GAs overall. Unfortunately, last month only two articles were reviewed. This is definitely a low point after our peak at the beginning of the process when 163 articles were reviewed in September 2007. After nearly two years, the running total has just passed the 50% mark. In order to expediate the reviewing, several changes have been made to the process. A new worklist has been created, detailing which articles are left to review. All exempt and previously reviewed articles have already been removed from the list. Instead of reviewing by topic, you can consider picking and choosing whichever articles interest you.

We are always looking for new members to assist with the remaining articles, so if you are interested or know of anybody that can assist, please visit the GA sweeps page. In addition, for every member that reviews 100 articles or has a significant impact on the process, s/he will get an award when they reach that threshold. If only 14 editors achieve this feat starting now, we would be done with Sweeps! Of course, having more people reviewing less articles would be better for all involved, so please consider asking others to help out. Feel free to stop by and only review a few articles, something's better than nothing! Take a look at the list, and see what articles interest you. Let's work to complete Sweeps so that efforts can be fully focused on the backlog at GAN. If you have any questions about the process, reviewing, or need help with a particular article, please contact me or OhanaUnited and we'll be happy to help. --Happy editing! In this, the English language Wiki, the following is very desirable. The km and mm at the end become redundant. Why not use the existing templates that are template:Infobox rail network; template:Infobox rail; template:Infobox SG rail (with or without | metric = yes); template:Infobox rail line. Also |NEIGUNG = in %, like 2% as is the usage in the USA and Canada, not in "per thousand" which I don't have on my key board. Peter Horn 19:18, 5 May 2009 (UTC)

See also Template talk:BS-daten#Conversions. Peter Horn 19:27, 5 May 2009 (UTC)
I took care of this and I'm in the process of updating all German railway articles accordingly. I noticed that a lot of these articles feature a decimal comma instead of a decimal point. Peter Horn 21:27, 6 May 2009 (UTC)
I corrected a blooper in the table. Peter Horn 21:30, 6 May 2009 (UTC)
I corrected another blooper. Peter Horn 22:50, 10 May 2009 (UTC)

Add parameters

By way of illustration: Transporter wagons were used extensively for a great many years also in Austria (gauge 760 mm (2 ft 5+1516 in)), Switzerland (1,000 mm (3 ft 3+38 in) Brünigbahn) and Sweden (gauges 802 mm (2 ft 7.6 in)*, 891 mm (2 ft 11.1 in)*, and 1,067 mm (3 ft 6 in)). Also in USATC S118 Class there is (or was) ...(1,000 mm / 39⅜ in) or Cape gauge (42 in / 1,067 mm)... Peter Horn 22:10, 20 May 2009 (UTC)
