[edit] Spelling

Your toolserv page that counts all the articles created by a given user?

At the bottom of the page, it says "Trunctuated to 100 pages".

That should be "Truncated". DS (talk) 14:08, 25 January 2012 (UTC)

[edit] rangecontribs toolserver tool broken

Hi,
FYI, your rangecontribs toolserver tool is apparently down.

This has been coming for a long time. I just haven't felt ready enough to put a retired note up. My last period of activity was over 11 months ago. It's time. I'll be maintaining my Toolserver tools for the time being, but I most likely won't fix them very quickly if they break. (X! · talk)  · @712  ·  16:05, 27 January 2012 (UTC)

Sad to see another highly experienced user shut the door behind them. --Guerillero | My Talk 16:10, 27 January 2012 (UTC)
Hey! You can still do things every now and then even if you're not usually very active. This {{retired}} business always seems so final... --KFP (contact - edits) 01:05, 29 January 2012 (UTC)
If there's any way I can help in finding people to take over your Toolserver tools, please let me know. Thank you for all you've done, and my sympathies that you feel you need to retire. Sumanah (talk) 21:13, 2 February 2012 (UTC)
  • Thanks from me too, X. All the best to you, and thanks for all you've done here. Drmies (talk) 00:43, 9 February 2012 (UTC)

[edit] Soxred93 Toolserver tools

Hello X!, I just tried using the edit counter you created, and it gave the following error message:

403: User account expired
  • The page you requested is hosted by the Toolserver user soxred93, whose account has expired. Toolserver user accounts are automatically expired if the user is inactive for over six months. To prevent stale pages remaining accessible, we automatically block requests to expired content.
  • If you think you are receiving this page in error, or you have a question, please contact the owner of this document: soxred93 [at] toolserver [dot] org. (Please do not contact Toolserver administrators about this problem, as we cannot fix it—only the Toolserver account owner may renew their account.)

I see that you have retired, so you may not read this message, but is there any way to continue using the tools you created? Thank you, Alpha_Quadrant (talk) 02:04, 9 February 2012 (UTC)

I don't like seeing these things expire, and now my edit counter is shot. Dammit. Who came up with these silly rules? They need to be slapped across the head with a giant tuna. ResMar 02:07, 9 February 2012 (UTC)
Ummm....so how do we check our edit counts now? Is there any other place? Mar4d (talk) 02:42, 9 February 2012 (UTC)
There is this tool, but X!'s tool set has more features. Alpha_Quadrant (talk) 02:44, 9 February 2012 (UTC)
(edit conflict)There are 3 or 4 other edit counters on ToolServer but none of them did as much as X!'s did/does. I sent him an email asking if he was willing to give out the source code. Hopefully, he will be willing. There are a handful of other programing people willing to maintain it from my chat on irc tonight. --Guerillero | My Talk 02:49, 9 February 2012 (UTC)
Article Blamer is a great tool - it would be wonderful if someone else could adopt it. GoingBatty (talk) 03:23, 9 February 2012 (UTC)
We on the German Wikipedia hope for it too. -- ESFP (talk) 04:03, 9 February 2012 (UTC)
I heavily used the Article Blamer too, as an alternative to WikiBlame. Goodvac (talk) 05:56, 9 February 2012 (UTC)
Thanks for mentioning WikiBlame - I'll use that for the time being. GoingBatty (talk) 00:14, 10 February 2012 (UTC)
I have used various of this user's excellent tools, and I would like to see them usable again.   — Jeff G. ツ (talk) 15:04, 9 February 2012 (UTC)

Source code can be found here. →Στc. 06:20, 9 February 2012 (UTC)

That would not seem to have all the tools in it. Perhaps X! could just log into the toolserver and run acctrenew? It only takes a second. - Jarry1250 [Deliberation needed] 13:19, 9 February 2012 (UTC)
Me too. I've been using this edit counter since August 2011; I'd like to see it running again. --Wtshymanski (talk) 14:03, 9 February 2012 (UTC)
isn't it possible to take over the tool by another account? WWSS1 (talk) 16:51, 9 February 2012 (UTC)
I came here to say very much the same as Alpha Quadrant. If some way can be found to keep the soxred93 tools going it would be greatly appreciated. Moonraker (talk) 23:31, 9 February 2012 (UTC)
User:TParis has obtained a copy of the edit counter's source code. (See User talk:TParis#User:X!'s Stuff.) He has a version of the tool set up here. Alpha_Quadrant (talk) 01:20, 10 February 2012 (UTC)
The edit counter works again! -- ESFP (talk) 01:56, 10 February 2012 (UTC)
I've no clue how, but the Gadgets should be edited to link to the working tools. Salvidrim! 02:18, 10 February 2012 (UTC)

It works, thanks a lot from the german wiki! -- M 93 (talk) 13:52, 10 February 2012 (UTC)

Thanks from the English Wiki as well, where it is functioning again also!--JayJasper (talk) 18:01, 10 February 2012 (UTC)

[edit] Bots

Hi,
related to the above section, since SoxBot isn't working anymore I've asked other bot operators to take over its tasks at WP:Bot owners' noticeboard#X!'s bots.
Cheers, and have a nice retirement, Amalthea 16:38, 9 February 2012 (UTC)
