Duplicate images uploaded[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Senator Cory Bernardi.JPG. A machine-controlled robot account noticed that you uploaded the same image twice: as Image:Senator Cory Bernardi.JPG and also as Image:Senator Cery Bernardi.JPG. The latter copy of the file has been marked for speedy deletion since it is redundant. If this sounds okay to you, there is no need for you to take any action.

This is an automated message- you have not upset or annoyed anyone. In the future, you may save yourself some confusion if you supply a meaningful file name and remember exactly which name you chose (file names are case sensitive, including the extension) so that you won't lose track of your uploads. For tips on good file naming, see Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions about this notice, or feel that the deletion is inappropriate, please contact User:Staecker, who operates the robot account. Staeckerbot 02:17, 23 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for Image:Senator Cory Bernardi official.JPG[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Senator Cory Bernardi official.JPG. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 03:09, 23 April 2007 (UTC)

Another staffer following the misinformed parliamentary library email[edit]

Just give it up will you. We will remove untrue libellious additions but we will not allow the removal of information just because it is negative. Timeshift (talk) 03:16, 26 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

July 2008[edit]

If you have a close connection to some of the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, edits where there is a conflict of interest, or where such a conflict might reasonably be inferred from the tone of the edit and the proximity of the editor to the subject, are strongly discouraged. If you have a conflict of interest, you should avoid or exercise great caution when:

  1. editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with;
  2. participating in deletion discussions about articles related to your organization or its competitors;
  3. linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam); and,
  4. avoid breaching relevant policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for businesses. For more details about what, exactly, constitutes a conflict of interest, please see our conflict of interest guidelines. Thank you. Orderinchaos 03:56, 26 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Photo[edit]

Also re your earlier attempts to upload a photo: If the photo is to be freely released under the Creative Commons 3.0 licence, there is a couple of things you need to do:

  • Upload a photo which has been taken of Cory Bernardi which is not used on any other site.
  • Get the office to write to permissions-en@wikimedia.org
  • Provide that email address with evidence that permission to release text or images under a free license has been received from a third party copyright holder (i.e. Cory Bernardi's office).
  • A day or two later a Permissions volunteer will come and mark the image in the appropriate way so it will not be deleted and can be used in our article on him. Note that the marking is completely confidential - the only record of any details is kept privately by OTRS volunteers.

We certainly have no objections to new images (esp if they're a significant improvement on what we have) but they need to be put through the proper process to remove any doubt that Wikipedia is violating copyright by displaying images that someone else holds a copyright on.
