Hello Rick,

I am still somwhat baffled as to how our VPRLC page differs to many pages that currently exist and are deemed suitable for the site. If you have a look at the Oxford Cavaliers (Rugby) page, you will see we have used the same format as them e.g History, Honours etc. Why is there page OK and ours is not? Our Club and Police Rugby League in Victoria has featured in many newspapers, police magazines and journals, Rugby League Weekly, the National Rugby League web site and more. We are not an 'unheard' of association and have broken ground in rugby league in Victoria and Australia. Our players have been involved in international test matches and helped paved the way for the sport in developing states. I have perused many of the pages covering various topics and fail to see why ours is not suitable. Cheers, VPRLC Committe.

Looking at Oxford Cavaliers (Rugby), the article starts with [It] was one of the eight founder members of the Rugby League Conference. This league now has well over sixty teams across England and Wales, and will include Scottish teams from 2007. Is VPRL one of the founder leagues of a conference? If so, say so. How many teams are there? What geographic region do they span? If you include these things, with (cited) references from "many newpapers, police magazines and journals, Rugby League Weekly, and the National Rugby League" web site I don't think there will be a problem. I'm not arguing for or against including this article. I'm interested in helping you understand how things work here. What you need to do now is edit the article's talk page and make a case that this league is notable. Citing a specific Rugby League Weekly article or a specific page from http://www.amnrl.com/ that mentions this league would be good. BTW - if you are actually a committee, you'll need to each get your own Wikipedia login. "Committee" logins are NOT allowed here. I am on a committee but writing (and being deleted) as an individual. The Vikings are no different to the Cavaliers. We are a team (not a competition/league) playing in a league. I am not sure what you mean by edit the articles talk page. Do you mean the page I created? How do I ecit it if it has been deleted. I am new to this site, sorry. VPRLC 06:43, 26 October 2006 (UTC)

Hi - I've put the content of the page that was most recently deleted at User:VPRLC/Police Rugby League (Victoria) which is a subpage of your user page. You should be able to work on it here as long as you'd like, with no danger of it being deleted (so long as it's not content copied from a copyrighted source). User pages (starts with "User:") and user subpages (starts with "User:some user name/") are treated differently than articles that are the content of the encyclopedia (pages without any "xxxx:" prefix). Every page, including user pages, has an associated "talk" page. For an article called "X", its talk page is "talk:X". The talk page for a user page is "user talk:username". See Wikipedia:Namespace. After you make the changes you might want to run it by the admins who deleted it, specifically user:Mackensen who deleted the first version (because of lack of notability) and user:Freakofnurture who deleted the most recent version (thinking it was probably copied from some other site likely in violation of copyright - copying content from copyrighted sources is strictly prohibited). I understand it's probably very frustrating. If you haven't already, please take the time to read the links I've provided above, particularly Wikipedia:Notability. I assume you're in Australia, which puts us in very different timezones. I'm happy to try to help you navigate through our byzantine ways, but if you'd prefer (for communication delay purposes) we could probably find someone in Australia willing to help you out as well. I've asked the user who originally tagged it as not asserting notability to take a look at it (see User talk:Dark Shikari). He says he'd probably nominate it for deletion at this point (which is progress, but probably not as much progress as you'd like). There's really no hurry. You can move the article from your user page back to article space (your ID has aged enough that you have the "move" button, right?), and immediately nominate it for deletion via the WP:AfD process. This is a little risky (the consensus might be to delete it, in which case it's very unlikely you'll ever be able to create it), but the upside is this gets the notability issue addressed by a larger group of editors than a single admin and a single "recent change watcher", and if the consensus is to keep the article you're done. Another approach is to keep it in your user space a while longer and try to get someone, from say Wikipedia:WikiProject Australian sports, to comment on it (it doesn't look like you've done this). The article isn't "wikified" yet (see Wikipedia:Guide to layout). You could work on making some of these sort of changes while you're waiting for a response. Like I say, there's no hurry. If you want to go the move and nominate for AfD route, let me know and I can help you through that process, but I'm not sure I'd really recommend this. -- Rick Block (talk) 05:03, 2 November 2006 (UTC)

Hey VPRLC, I can't help with your particular problem, but I just wanted to say thanks for being so patient and understanding throughout this process. Hopefully, someone will reply to your query sooner or later.
Oh, and if that doesn't work out, you could try contacting DaGizza or Blnguyen, who are members of that project and are also currently active. They are both administrators, though, so they may be slightly busy with administrative tasks - however, they're both really helpful, and will hopefully get back to you when they can. Police Club

Hi there. At the moment I have to say that the article does not appear to meet the notability criteria of Wikipedia. In general, the club would at least have to be "State League" to survive, eg SANFL and VFL. I think a way to preserve the info is to start an article about the Police Sports scene in general - because there are the Police Games, so I think an article about the general Police-Sport assoication would make it. Again, I will use the Oxford Cavaliers (Rugby) page as an example of the inconsistencies that exist with this Wiki site.

The Cav's are a club, not an entire league, just like the Vikings Police club. Oxford play in a particular league, like the Vikings do and both are foundation clubs in their respective leagues (competitions), helping to develop the game of rugby league. From looking at other club pages, it does not appear necessary for the page to represent the 'league' or the 'competition' itself. The police team are in fact involved in a 'National' competition just like Oxford and should be afforded the same opportunity to exist on the wiki site. VPRLC 03:31, 10 November 2006 (UTC)

Oh...,I am truly sorry to hear about your problem. Anyway, can I get more specific information from you? Thanks. As I was saying, I need to know what you want to put in the article(history, stuff about it, pictures)...you can do some research about this article first, and then put it together. Write what you can(make sure its not the same like where you took it out from), and ignore the pictures for now. Once you've written all you can, even if its only a sentence, contact me. I will find someone to help you to arrange the pictures together so that they won't look too messy, unless you can do it yourself. Keep it up, and if you need it, I can help you do some research too. CONGRATULATIONS!!! You've created your dream article and now, all you have to do is to click on the link, which will bring you to something like 'Wikipedia has no article with this exact name...'. When you've reached this page, paste your article on it, but keep the original copy, cause I do not know whether this all that is to it.
