Vandalism in the article of the Finnish Orthodox Church[edit]

Hi! The anonymous guy with the IP mumber 65.121.129.101 has vandalised the article of the Finnish Orthodox Church on May 23. When I looked at his talk page, there were several warnings, yours being the last one before mine. You wrote that if this chap vandalizes any page more, he will be blocked. Decidedly, beings such a disruptive force, he should be blocked. I am a newcomer, and I have no expertice in handling vandalism. Could you do the blocking, or tell me how to do it? --Tellervo 06:27, 24 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This should be a no-brainer, so I'm going to query the blocking admin. MSJapan 03:58, 12 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
According to the block log, the IP is confirmed as a sock of Lightbringer (as if we did not know) his block has been bumped up to 3 months (anon. only, account creation blocked - whatever that means). Blueboar 12:16, 12 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading Image:Krag-Jørgensen SNABB38.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. Wrong headline on the article about the 6,5x55 cartrigde[edit]

The term "6,5x55" is the correct name of the cartrigde made by the Norwegian-Swedish commitee. The "6,5x55 Swedish"-designation is a nickname referring to either the Mauser M96 used by sweden, or referring to the cartrigde used in the swedish mauser.

The article should be named correctly: "6,5x55" - the official name of the cartrigde given to it by its creators, the Norwegian-Swedish cartrigde commitee of the United Kingdoms of Norway and Sweden (The union lasted from 1814 to 1905).

regards

Trond

I know - I started it at 6.5x55, but it was moved by someone else... I'll be bold and move it back. WegianWarrior 17:38, 21 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Looking for something to do? WikiProject Furry is improving articles on furry and anthropomorphic topics, and we'd like to have you on board.

Our current goal is to raise Anthrocon, furry convention and furry fandom to good article status and beyond - but if that doesn't take your fancy, there are plenty of other articles to work on. Give it a go and let us know how you're doing!

You received this one-time invitation because you are a Furry Wikipedian. GreenReaper 23:25, 28 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Wrong Person Accused of Vandalism[edit]

Hello WegianWarrior,

I go by the IP 76.172.157.67, but my name's Eugene. You sent my IP address a warning that I had vandalized the Quaternion page. I looked at the changes made related to said vandalism, and I can assure you that I did not make that vulgar edit, and that it wasn't submitted from this computer. I understand that under some circumstances, IP addresses may change and that multiple people may share an IP Address; I believe that's the case here, and that this is a misunderstanding.

Sorry for the inconvenience! It wasn't my fault, but it's a shame that things like this happen to Wikipedia at all, so I hope that the actual vandal either quits or is caught.

Thanks for understanding.

AWB[edit]

I think you need to clean up your edit summary's use of AWB with AWB using AWB.;-) Hesperian 05:53, 30 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No worries. Hesperian 06:02, 30 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Dropped by your page to see why you use AWB - any thoughts on it after ghetting over your initial excitement? Is it something a regular user (moi) could happily use? docboat 06:29, 30 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Well, my initial reason for getting it was that I have the desire to keep working on improving articles - not just in the category I started with today, but acros Wikipedia - but going through articles 'by hand' not only takes a lot of time, but I would also have trouble spotting a lot of the simple things AWB picks out automagicly. Having done a small testrun this morning before work, I will say I am impressed so far. 19 constructive (if small) edits in twenty minutes... none of them fixing big glaring errors, none of them adding anything new to the Wikipedia... but still, all of them cleaning up un needed double redirects, multiple instances of links to the same article, alphabetising the links to other language wikipedias, removing unneeded linebreaks... overall, in small but important ways streamlining the articles and improving Wikipedia overall. I'll keep using it, and if you're happy with spending time doing small chores on Wikipedia, I would say you should look into it. I'm also looking forward to plunging into part of Wikipedia I would otherwise never go... *smiles*. The actuall software is easy enought to use, allthought I would recomend having the usermanual open in a seperate window the first time. WegianWarrior 06:57, 30 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading Image:Eidsvold_class_costal_defence_cruiser_drawing.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 21:18, 20 January 2008 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. — pd_THOR | =/\= | 21:18, 20 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Tordenskjold post 1918 Amsterdam.png[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Tordenskjold post 1918 Amsterdam.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 02:29, 12 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Image:Håkon inspects KNM Eidsvold.gif[edit]

Hi Wegian. Thought I'd just let you know I've been doing some heavy editing on the image "Image:Håkon inspects KNM Eidsvold.gif" that you uploaded. Amongst other things, its PD-Norway50 and it doesn't show Håkon 5th inspecting HNoMS Eidsvold, it in fact shows Haakon VII inspecting HNoMS Norge. I also added a source for the image and an info box. If somebody was going to bring me light, I'd think they wouldn't be so persistent about it. Anyways, good catch, and the condition should clear up in a few days with a liberal application of anti-vandal cream. MSJapan (talk) 01:52, 24 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
