Uzlovaya (‹See Tfd›Russian: Узлова́я) is a town and the administrative center of Uzlovsky District of Tula Oblast, Russia. Population: 59,763 (2002 Census);[1] 64,889 (1989 Soviet census).[2]

It was founded in 1873 as a railway station Khrushchyovskaya (Хрущёвская). It was renamed Uzlovaya in 1877, and granted town status in 1938. The station connects three important railway directions: Ryazhsk, Elets and Tula. The railway influenced much the life and the future of the town. The first coal mines were founded in the late 30s. Their development dominated such mining villages as Dubovka, Brusnyanky, Kamenetsky, Gornyatsky. Nowadays the mines do not work.
