Counterparts to blaxpoiltation and bourekas films[edit]

In the U.S., the blaxploitation films dealt with African-American characters in leading roles and in Israel, Bourekas films dealt with actors and actresses of Mizrahi Jewish background in leading roles. Were there other film genre that dealt with non-majority status actors and actresses in leading roles in other parts of the world? Donmust90 Donmust90 (talk) 18:45, 2 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Nazi antisemitic propaganda films? The lead actors portraying Jews were not themselves Jewish, though.  --Lambiam 05:10, 3 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
See, for example, Category:British cinema by ethnicity. There are British Indian films, British Pakistani films, British Bangladeshi films, etc. I don't know if you would call those "genres", but many of those films are made by and star people of the respective ethnicities. See also Category:American cinema by ethnicity. I would expect that there are other such genres for other major filmmaking countries elsewhere in the world, but I haven't yet located Wikipedia categories or pages about them. --Metropolitan90 (talk) 01:38, 5 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
We have an article at Exploitation film. Most of them are not what you're looking for, but some may be, such as redsploitation and Bruceploitation, among others. Given the way you've phrased the question, New Queer Cinema and linked articles may be of interest as well. Matt Deres (talk) 23:34, 5 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
